New performance cars usually have traction, brake and stability control. Those controls cannot overcome physics in bad conditions, but add safety if you are not an insane driver. Older 60’s and 70’s muscle cars had poor handling, brakes and suspension. The drum brakes and brake fade were frightening. I think they are the most dangerous.

Starting with the Corvette.
You can go lower down the food chain than a Corvette as far as getting the most out of a car. Most of us aren't even capable of driving a Miata to it's full potential (if there's one thing driving schools have taught me, it's that I'm certainly not capable of doing so. Yet).
