Boy, now i feel like even more of a loser!
How many of these jobs are filled by US citizens?
yes and no
you can have SUPER qualifications and excellent work experience and all the rest, but you need VERY NARROW AND SPECIFIC programming skills to get most of these jobs
some Americans get hired, and LOTS of foreigners are brought in for many of these jobs .. MANY of them! you can see this in the neighborhood demographics alone, but there have been published reports and its an extremely well known fact, too
mostly from Communist China and some also from India, etc.
the story (especially in the Murky Newz, they’re infamous for parroting the large corporate line about matters like the big companies’ mass-scale hiring of foreigners....)
ALSO NOTE that MANY of our jobs, including LOTS of programming jobs, are sent overseas by the big corporations....to field offices or contractors or slave lavor camps or gulags (sorry about that, we do hear about Apple and others, tho)....
in Communist China, in India, in VietNam now and Korea too
the job picture in SillyCon Valley is, at least to a major degree, still a Silly Con. So sorry to have to say

Cisco’s Layoffs Are Just the Tip of the Spear for Tech

Great.......Now everyone will need an income of over $300,000 per year (instead of the current requirement of $250k/yr) in order to afford a lousy two bedroom apartment and live there. I wonder when an earthquake is going to happen and swallow Soddom and Gomorrah into the sea.
Let’s see, I just read an article from Market Watch that says the economy is doing great, wages are up and there is job growth, and now this article. Me thinks the media is trying to sell snake oil to the masses.
All producing products we don’t need to live, meanwhile industries that produce real products to make life better are leaving or dying. I can do without some stupid app that tells me when to change my underwear or some social media crap. If you are on Facebook or Twitter you might as well send a contribution to the DNC.
