Who Owns Yahoo News?
vanity

Posted on 08/17/2016 12:54:35 PM PDT by MrChips

Every day, more than once, I log on to the Internet. My homepage is Yahoo. There I see the headlines of the day. . . from everywhere, except from the more conservative papers. One headline after another bashes Trump, often before he can even say what they are criticizing him for saying. It is nauseating, indeed, dizzying. A constant drumbeat of negativity.

Now, I know Google was involved in Obama's campaign. I know that Time-Warner (which owns CNN) is Clinton's 6th largest donor. But, this selective editing, these sins of omission when there are so many conservative papers with better headlines that could be displayed, these diatribes that flood not just the Internet, but the major means of news delivery for most people . . . places like Yahoo News . . . . is simple frightening. My cell phone news ap is no better (if anything, it's worse).

Yes, OK. Welcome to Brave New World. Or is it more Orwell than Huxley? But, I repeat: Who owns Yahoo News?

I have a domain with Yahoo (from several years ago). However, recently, I started getting tons of “phishing” emails to me .. all loaded with “Trojan” programs.

I was so mad .. I wrote them a stinging email .. told them that if I got one more Trojan .. my domain was going to move. It’s a small thing, it’s just that I have a lot of stuff going on now - and I’d rather deal with it later when a renewal comes due in a few months (and I get offers of a better deal for my domain name).

But .. while the Trojans have been stopped (by Norton Anti-Virus), each month when I got my report from Norton; that’s when I would find out that Norton had already taken care of it. Now, all I get are the continued “phishing” emails which are such a pain to have to deal with. All I do is look to see ... (yahoo.com)... and I just automatically send it to the “junk” box. Irritating.

I know what you mean. Yahoo pushes non-stop anti-Trump hit pieces on their homepage and under Yahoo News. It might as well be DU, Yahoo has moved so far to the left. If it wouldn’t be such an annoyance to change my yahoo email, I would never go back to the site.

Hint from one Yahoo mail user to another:

Those ads they flash at you while you are reviewing your inbox online have a little tab where you can report them as “offensive”.

I use that every time they bombard me with new Hillary ads.

There are only 10 types of Yahoo articles

1) The Kardashians went to the mall or made a sandwich or picked up the mail or something

2) Some Mom was breastfeeding somewhere in public and shamed those who thought she should be a little more discreet.

3) Some Model/Move star who is “only” a 9 instead of a Perfect 10 fought back against the body shamers (who ever the hell they are)

4) Some has been from the Daily Show had a zinger against some Conservative

5) Sob story about a Refugee / Illegal Immigrant and hardships they are facing

6) Sob story about how wonderful the Black Man that was recently gunned down by police was even though he had a long criminal record. He was an aspiring rapper on his way to college before he ran into Whitey.

7) Bil Nye destroys the Global Warming Denier’s last argument, (Until tomorrow when he destroys the other last argument)

8) Kansas is facing a budget shortfall of few million bucks (and of course no articles on Blue states & cities that are facing billions). Apparently to Yahoo, Kansas is the most important state in the Union that every mundane political item must be front page news for the world to know about!!

9)Some Republicans somewhere are going to dump Trump. Really, they really are this time.

10) Gay is normal article.

do you go directly to the Yahoo home page and then login to mail?

I use mail.yahoo.com to go direct and I don’t see any of it.

I’m not sure. I think Bing is a better search engine than Yahoo, and I suspect their news page (http://www.bing.com/news?FORM=Z9LH3) is also better, although I don’t use it frequently enough to know that for sure. I doubt it could be more biased than Yahoo. At least, Bing just lists the article titles instead of often rewriting them in such a way that makes Trump look even worse like Yahoo does.

I think between Free Republic, Drudge, and Breitbart (which is easier to use with AdBlock), I see most of the main news stories, but I still will occasionally check a more lefty site. The Hill is very good at covering almost all of the U.S. political happenings in depth, even though some articles (and many of the comments) are often aggravating.

I use Yahoo too but the ant-Trump stuff seems to come in waves - sometimes there are plenty of anti-Clinton headings too, and whenever there are, I make sure to click them on - same when there is pro-Trump stuff - on the theory that Yahoo will try to increase at least somewhat what they see you choosing to open - may also help their over all assignment of stories.....

What you have listed are either mutual funds or custodians. They are not the true beneficial owners of the stock.

The mutual funds can vote the stock at their discretion, but the custodians cannot.
