(damn, probably too long for a closing statement, but maybe work some of it in elsewhere)

Trump needs to re-connect with the people that got him the nomination. He cannot allow the election to be a referendum on him because he loses if it is. It needs to be a referendum primarily on Hillary's policies and to some extent, his policies.

He also needs to keep clear of the usual Republican tax cut stuff. We tried it in the last two elections and it got nowhere. The bottom line is the following regarding taxes:

1) The federal income tax doesn't exist for the lower class, and barely exists for the middle class. For example, a married couple making $80,000 with two kids and no deductions pays 8% of their salary in federal income taxes. They're not going to care much. The only people that feel any bite from the income tax are those making between maybe $120k and $200k...and they're mostly in blue states anyway. On top of that, the Democrats aren't talking about raising taxes on the Middle Class...they learned that lesson with Mondale - it is not going to help him much, if at all. Yes, it worked with Reagan, but the situation was totally different then.

2) The estate tax doesn't even affect people worth under $5,000,000. It may be morally wrong to double tax those people, but no one cares. I doubt there are even 10 FReepers with an estate that large.

3) The corporate income tax may be the highest in the world, but we (voters) don't pay it, the (evil) corporations pay it. Of course that's not true, but it's the perception that counts.

Anyway, tax cuts are fine to propose, but they're not going to win elections, and certainly not for Trump.

I know at least 500 people who care. They are the workers and their families of the company that employs me. Our owner just turned 90 and works roughly 70 hours a week. The company is worth on the order of $50 million. When he dies, someone will have to cough up over $20 million in taxes. The combined wealth of his family is far less than $20 million. So, who's going to pay it? The most likely scenario is the sale of the company.

Our company is high tech. We manufacture all of our products right here in the good ol' USA. Over half of our sales are exports, mostly to China. (That's right, we manufacture our products in the USA, and export them to China.) The countries (and our competitors in the USA, as well) would love to make the items themselves. Our solution to this is to pour a very high percentage of profits into new product development. By the time someone figures out how to copy our products, they are obsolete. The naïve call this "planned obsolesce". We call it staying ahead of the competition.

The company may have to be sold to pay inheritance taxes. The buyers would be larger companies who are in the business of buying companies such as us. (The owner gets at least a couple of calls per week from people wanting to buy the company.) Their strategy is simple: cut costs, and milk profits out of what's left. To do this, they cut all development of new products, lay off all people doing it, cut benefits, and make the profitable stuff until no one buys them any more. Ultimately 100 jobs are lost, and 500 family members are out on the street.

That's who cares.

“”she will immediately lock-down the Supreme Court the first day she takes office, by appointing the 5th radical gun-grabbing justice””

She can APPOINT all she wants but without Senate confirmation(s), it’s going nowhere.

Dear bobL,

In posting Trump’s closing argument, you attached a ‘yeah, but’, WHERE ONE WAS NOT NECESSARY, thereby taking what Trump has stated and attempting to make another cake from it.

TRUMP IS CONNECTED, but YOU think he is not. What? have YOU been listening to what CNN has been saying?!?!?

Trump has already laid out his plan. He has already explained away what objections you might have.

I read all SIX complete explanations of his plans, and I concur, with all of them.

I suggest you read them, too.
