Dixie is her name. My two sons and I found her while walking along a creek on my parent's land in Alabama the summer of 2006. She was just a puppy, obviously abandoned, and covered with ticks and infested with worms. A true rescue! We got her cleaned up and took her north with us (we lived in Massachusetts at the time).

On the way home, we tried thinking of a name for her. Then on the radio came the song "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down" and we made the connection with Alabama. So that is how she got the name Dixie!
