Extreme and gruesome violence has turned a city once beloved by holidaymakers from around the world into a war zone. Acapulco, on Mexico's Pacific Coast, has been gripped by such bloody chaos in recent years that it has been dubbed one of the most dangerous cities in the world. Shocking new photographs captured in little more than two months on the streets show just have horrifying life there has become, with death seemingly able to strike anywhere in the city.

"...Americans who travel to Mexico for vacation should seriously have their heads examined...."

A haiku:

More to the point, FRiend
Folks who go to that hell hole
Should have heads exhumed

And if I wanted to live in Mexico I would move there. But our Wise Progressive Overlords seem to think there is no harm in allowing unrestricted migration of a good fraction of the population of Mexico into the US, as if any culture was just as good as the one we had here. These Smart People have no idea about how much damage their enlightened policy will do to this country. It is almost a form of treason.

Wife & I went to Acapulco in summer of 1984. Seemed safe enough, drink bottled water only, keep your goods in the hotel safe deposit and let the front desk call a trusted taxi.

Biggest hazard we faced was a bus trip to the silver city of Taxco. Climbing up into the mountains was OK but the trip down was all white knuckles in that careening bus with brakes you could smell & halfway down it drove past Mexico’s largest coffin store with lurid window displays.

Went to Cancun in 1991. That was OK, too. I speak Spanish so it helped in both locales. Wouldn’t go back now for love nor money.

In fact, I don’t want to set foot outside the U.S. anymore. Didn’t get this old by being stupid.

You don’t have to go back these days, just visit Mexico conquered California instead.

I live near the border and the agreement is the same here. Also no one reports on the violence so it doesn’t exist.

When you hear from many sources about multiple murders you can search all you want for news, Spanish and English and you won’t find anything. I don’t know if it is censorship or there are no more journalists brave enough to cover it.

Liberal 'elites' want to bring the hellhole to the United States - THEY get cheap drugs ... WE THE PEOPLE get the violence and horror.

Same with bringing in CLEAP LABOR. THEY get cheap labor - WE THE PEOPLE get the violence and horror.

I could have written what you wrote, about my wife and I, and I wouldn't have had to change a word. Our experiences in both cities exactly.

I too speak Spanish and I loved Mexico and their culture for decades but, like you, I wouldn't go down there now for anything. Too dangerous.

Reconquered California is full of Mexicans with attitude, no doubt.

Not tootin’ my horn, but the locals in Acapulco & Cancun generally warmed to an American speaking their language (”no es turista, sino forastero”) and made us feel welcome.

Cancun is apparently taking the attitude that its income depends on tourism and that crime will not be tolerated, but I can’t say how long this attitude will last.

It's also easier in Cancun because of one road in, there can be a check point of sorts.

No. You are horribly wrong (no offense)

They are turning America into a third world backwater on PURPOSE. They know and can't wait to make us the peasants and they the overlords.
It isn't ALMOST a form of treason. It is TREASON pure and simple. And the GOPe are right in there to destroy America too.

Acapulco is undoubtedly filled with a friendlier bunch than the surly and belligerent crew with which Bush and Obama flooded California. Nothing short of mass deportation will save this state.

One policy that Bush Republicans and Obama Democrats share. Their view of ‘America perfected’ is one where the American people are replaced with hordes from the 3rd world. They have already achieved it in large sections of California. Coming to your neighborhood real soon.

Not mentioned is that Elvis didn’t set foot in Mexico to film it. They had a look-alike for long shots they did on location, otherwise Elvis filmed everything at the Paramount studio in L.A.

I read this and cannot help but think, 'Has the United States become a "narco-state?"'

We will not build a wall because that would hamper the free flow of drugs into our country. Because there so much money to be made in the drug trade it easily corrupts our law enforcement at every level as well as elected officials from the local dog catcher to the president of the United States.

What a change from 30 years ago. I am truly depressed.
