Donald Trump needs to get back on track: Steve Forbes Trump needs to get back on track: Steve Forbes 4 Hours Ago|02:32 Donald Trump has an opportunity to get his campaign back on track when he outlines his economic plan on Monday, following a bruising week, former GOP presidential candidate Steve Forbes said Monday.

Recent polls show Hillary Clinton leads Trump nationally and in some key battleground states following Trump's public dispute with the Muslim parents of a U.S. Army captain killed in action in Iraq.

Trump also clashed with his party's establishment, by refusing endorse Republican House Speaker Paul Ryan and Sen. John McCain. He relented on Friday during a campaign stop in Wisconsin, endorsing Ryan and McCain, as well as New Hampshire Sen. Kelly Ayotte, in their primary battles.

"If you saw him on Friday making that endorsement announcement, that was a chagrined man who finally realized his campaign's in trouble. If he doesn't change it, it's over," Forbes told CNBC's "Squawk Box."

>>Look, a state can, if it wants, become independent. I would think a state thus freed from Fedgov would take matters of civil violence into their own hands.
The state still has a police force, a governor, a legislature and all the trappings of a national government IN PLACE second one upon secession.

How does a state “decide” to become independent in this day? Referendum? State legislature? Governor decree? In the days (weeks? months?) leading up to the vote, what do you think will be going on? How much FedGov agitating will be going on? How many “voters” will be slipped in? How many leaders of the secession movement will have a sudden and unexpected change of heart one morning?

I would say a referendum. If things fall apart quickly I can see that happening. I can see citizens of a state like Texas DEMANDING a referendum. Why go down with the ship?
