An acquaintance of mine fell in love with a girl in the Philippines that he had met online, and they agreed to marry even though they had never met in person. They made arrangements for her to come to this country for the marriage, but just before she was to come here, she was reported to have been killed in an automobile accident. Some of us suspected that this was all a ruse to get papers that would allow her to come to the US, and that when she got here, she just took off.
This guy eventually married another Filipina.
I met my Filipina wife online back in 2012. I flew to Davao City to meet her. I didn't have to stay in the airport for more than 10 minutes, let alone 10 days. She was waiting outside the terminal building. From a distance, I thought I saw her, and as I got closer, I knew it was her. She is now Mrs Mark17. Sometimes there things work out, sometimes they do. Ours did. 😀
