Drivers in Rio de Janeiro were facing gridlock as the dedicated Olympic Lanes came into use - and brought cars across the city to a standstill. Over 100 miles of special traffic lanes set aside for the transportation of Olympic athletes and staff began to operate on Sunday. Motorists face fines and points on their licence if they stray into the lanes, which connect all the Olympic zones.

Rio was a traffic nightmare before the Olympics. Looks like the city is grinding to a halt except for the IOC official in their special lanes.

Looks like there are a lot of reasons to not be in Rio right now.

I wonder exactly the amount of cash that was paid off to get them in Rio?

The reality of the “Third World” is hitting the retarded Multiculturalist in the face.

Let’s see how much of this gets reported when the real games begin.

“Why do they still have these games??”

No kidding! In today’s world, it’s just so unfair! There’s a loser in every single event. Why not just let the athletes train in their native country, and at an agreed upon date have a massive video conference, give EVERYBODY a gold medal, and be done with it. Everybody would be a winner, no swimming in poop, no dislocating the ‘financially challenged’ people, no contributing to global warming...What’s not to like? Everybody’s a winner! Yay! Yay! Yay!

One of the reasons for the traffic jam was the subway that didn’t get built because the politicians stole the money.

Just remember that story the next time your area starts talking about building more mass transit.

NBC has huge one-time investment in these Olympics and in the long-term ‘movement,’ and as usual their arrogance is pervasive as symbolized by their plastering of the Olympic rings on everything even non-Olympic events.

Their various media mouthpieces have been whistling past the graveyard for about 6 months with the typical comment ‘The critics say every Olympics will be a shambles but they always manage to be great successes.’

Well, the law of averages and the true nature of corruption and disorganization in the Third World and Brazil in particular are bound to catch them up and this is probably the year.

Media types enjoy all-access passes, special catering, etc. and the best seats at each event. They are, in so many words, instructed to write a hagiography of the host city and the Games. NBC will rely on taped camera shots, if necessary, to avoid showing the myriad flaws and unfinished facilities while they wave the US flag incessantly at what they openly admit is their target audience: ditz-brained, emotionally-swayed, uninformed females.

Dallas wants to put in a half billion dollar trolley line through downtown. Developers and their subsidiary politicians want to make it a subway costing 3 to 4 times that amount. Paid for by the suburbs and federal taxpayers nationwide, of course.

This isn’t going to end well.

On a good note, one terrorist attack and the Nobody but Clinton network loses millions.

No, a terrorist attack would send ratings through the roof. ABC only paid $7.5 million for the rights to Munich; 4 years later, the rights cost more than 3 times that $25 million.

It’s the same for every Olympics: the media outlets, which didn’t buy the rights to broadcast the games, do nothing but slag everyone and everything involved with them. The host country, the host city, the local Olympics organizations, etc. all get slagged 24/7 — because reporting about the actual sporting events isn’t allowed.

When I think of it, Rio should not have had been given the games if it could not get ready ahead of time.
