Police said the dog is dangerous and still on the loose
The search continues for the owner of a pit bull who attacked a 6-year-old boy in Antioch earlier this month. Police said the dog is dangerous and still on the loose.
The July 14 attack occurred in the Antioch Marina. Police said a woman and her grandson were walking in the area when out of nowhere the dog attacked the child. "The grandmother fought the dog off," said Acting Lt. Tarra Nissen with the Antioch Police Department.
The dog left several wounds to the boy's groin and upper legs. The boy is expected to survive.
The pit bull and its owner, who authorities said is a transient, got away after the attack.

Police said the marina at the time was packed with more than 150 Pokemon Go players. Still, authorities have few witnesses or leads.
"It is obviously an aggressive animal," Nissen said. "It attacked a young boy unprovoked. It's a danger to the public."
Antioch-resident Ashley Roja said the attack is part of a larger issue of some dog owners being irresponsible.
"Why is a dog attacking somebody, especially at random? No provoking, nothing," Roja said.
Animal Control officers in Antioch said there was another dog attack last week, when two pit bulls attacked another dog.
I lived in Antioch for 15 years. Reading up.
Outlaw that breed. I’m sorry. It’s the only way. I know other breeds can be dangerous too. Not on the same level or with the same frequency as the Pit Bull. It’s a shame, because many are very intelligent dogs and easy to train, but something happens to the young adult that may or may not be preventable.
The dog fancier community should do away with the breed.
I tire of telling this story. A friend of mine had an American Staffie. Daisey. What a sweetie! He’d tell her JB is coming, and she;d start to whine in happieness. As soon as I walked in the door, she’d flop on her back for a tummy rub. One day Doug came back from softball practice, and was on the phone with a friend. Daisy attacked him. and latched onto his thigh. He was able to kill her with his aluminum bat. Can you imagine having to do that? His friend on the phone heard him screaming and called 911. They got there just in time. They told Doug two more minutes and he would have bled out. 84 stitches. These dogs can go nutz at a moments notice!
Thank you for telling it, though. I get tired of reading the maiming injuries and killings. Recently, two pit bulls dragged a small child under their fence and the video was so brutal that court staff covered their mouths in shock - apparently there’s “evidence” the dogs were trying to disembowl and eat the child - they certainly killed him.
These things are not domesticated animals - they are predators and they act like predators. The door flops open for a moment and they’re out the door, hunting....people.
Lately I’ve seen apologists saying “well they have a big prey drive.” Like that’s a suitable, scientific explanation for the number of people killed or maimed by these things. Tired of the “irresponsible owner” meme. In the OP, it doesn’t even make sense - the apologist is saying it’s the owner because the dogs attacked immediately. WHAT? It’s the nature of the dog bred to attack without warning and leave devastating/lethal wounds.
Tired.
How are we to know that this “dog” wasn’t in fact a rogue Pokemon? And, proceeding from that, why didn’t those 150 fools catch it?! They were well placed for it ...
Oh, they were fantasizing, you say? Everybody needs a sense of accomplishment, people! Millennials are (technically) people, too!
OMG. The owner had no choice, but to fight for his life.
He probably lives with the guilt to this day, but at least he lives.
It's true -- the parallels are many.
In a terrorist attack, the Democrats in the MSM will first announce "we have no idea what caused this person to act" even though during their attacks they consistently yell some jihadist phrase, such as "Alluha Ak***".
Then they say "we have to wait for the results of the investigation", or blame guns, knives, SUVs, white trucks, etc. for the attack.
Likewise the 'owners' of these vicious, lethal canine-jihadist weapons with free will go on killing our children, just like the muzzie jihadists.
I’ve told a similar story about a pit bull lovingly raised from a pup who suddenly turned on the wife - and the husband had to shoot it while the dog’s jaws were still clamped on his wife’s arm. These dogs are like unstable bombs that can go off at any time.
It's a pitbull, it's in it's nature.
There’s a pitbull in the house behind me. The owners put a cover on the fence that seems to help.
It barked 100% of the time it was outside before the cover.
And it’s chewing a hole in the wood fence. I keep a few melee weapons at my backdoor. If that thing climbs the fence it’s dead. And I will NOT hesitate.
People say, call authorities. I say, yeah right, tattooed renters with a pit bull, yeah, call authorities on them. Right......
As soon as his head makes it under the fence, put bullet in its skull.
