n Colorado, the rate jumped 0.4 point from May to a still-low 3.7 percent as more of its population began looking for work without being hired, a positive for the economy as it suggests greater optimism that these people will find jobs.
A similar trend played out in five other states: Nevada and Oregon each saw a 0.3 percent increase, while rates went up 0.2 points in California, Maine and South Dakota. Those trends correspond with the national report that saw the unemployment rate rise from 4.7 percent in May to 4.9 percent as more workers started searching for jobs.

If true, this could actually be a good thing as more people who were “discouraged” and no longer counted as unemployed return to the job market.
Or, as Trump’s election seems more likely - and it certainly is NOT a “done deal” yet! - these economy “precursors” ARE GOING to rise each month.
But Hillary’s press corpse will blame it (er, take credit for ALL it) on Hillary’s economic policies even since 2008!
But Bush’s (republican and white, racist, Christian, American, colonist and capitalist) failures are ALL to blame for 2007-2016, right?
I’m certainly no expert in how they formulate these stats, but it seems quite like Orwellian newspeak to me. It seems impossible that both “job gains” and unemployment can increase simultaneously. It’s always smoke and mirrors, as far as I’m concerned. Unemployment down often means people quite looking. Unemployment up? They claim it means there are more people who are “optimistic” and looking for jobs which are just on the horizon. Constant redefinition of terms, and dealing from the bottom of the deck as far as I’m concerned.
I don’t buy it—that’s the explanation they always hand out. Every change is somehow positive.
The 0bama regime Dept of Labor starts to slowly inflate hiring figures to boost Madam Benghazi, but at the same time cannot hide the number applying for unemployment, hence 'job gains' while more are unemployed.
