What did you think of Trump's speech?

Posted on 07/21/2016 9:17:54 PM PDT by MNDude

Of course we all loved it, but how do you think it'll effect voters?

Independents, anti-Trump Republicans, evangelicals, other needed voting blocks?

There really wasn’t time last night to outline each workday for four, or eight, years.

Unlike the dems, he’s not going to tell all of his game plan.

But, if he’s not detailed enough for you, then I’m sure Hillary will always tell you the truth about what see does...just drop her an email, and she’ll get you up to date.

Obviously, you weren’t listening, or you only heard what you wanted to hear. It was all about liberty and the constitution, or did you miss the entire point about the Supreme Court choices? Missed the point about politicians having to live by the same rules as Blue collars? I can go on and on but instead of rehashing it out for you, just go back and read the transcript at the first part of this thread. I have more important things to attend to.

The court, and of course immigration, are why he has my vote. I don’t see him as a conservative or someone who will advance conservative social issues, but frankly we don’t have the luxury of quibbling over that right now.

That's my view. Trump continues to exceed my expectations because I have believed that the if the first 2 items (the SC and immigration) are not fixed there will be no country left and this great experiment will come to an end. But Trump hits other points as well, fair trade, the right to keep and bear arms, taxes and regulations for example. If he wins and delivers on half of what he says we will all be much better off than the alternative.

Then we can quibble about the social aspects of this country.

Nearly an hour? I’ve read an hour and fifteen minutes which is entirely too long.

Never having really listened to any of his longer speeches I was very impressed. I felt he was honest about the SOTU and I liked that. I liked the fact that he used plain language to say what he was thinking.

It may have been a good speech but I couldn’t stand the delivery. His friends, co-workers & family persuaded me he was a good man & great candidate so I will vote for him without cringing too much.

Let’s just take the wall. The US-Mexico border is about 2,000 miles long. How much per mile would an 8 ft tall wall cost? A million bucks? That’s probably way too low.But let’s start there. So it costs at least 2 billion dollars. But illegal aliens can buy step ladders. They can also tunnel. So the wall wouldn’t work without guard stations and electronics. How much would that cost? It just doesn’t make sense. China tried to keep dangerous immigrants out with a wall. It took years to build and didn’t work. Their illegal aliens conquered China repeatedly.

I think he will do what he says he will do. He is not going to sit and wait on permission.. he’s in a hurry with his goals.

I’ve long thought it was not hard to get these things done if the person in charge just did what was right. Not owned by special interest,.. not politically correct... not afraid of the media and not afraid of congress.

(I’m still trying to figure out where they get the idea Trump is bigoted, or a racist.)

Good point, m. Thatcher!

And Trump did say right out that he was going to hire the best people to get the job done.

Montanajoe,

“God bless you” isn’t enough?

Him saying “God bless you” is OK by me; he was talking to everyone, those in attendance, those watching on TV and the internet, those reading it in print.

He was talking to 10,000 people, and thousands more on TV and the net, but he brought it to the individual level, saying “God bless you” directly, like he was sitting there across the table and talking one-on-one.

I agree with what m1911a1 said here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3451677/posts?page=65#65

“...I noticed that too, but then it occurred to me that he said “God bless you” speaking to the collective audience.

I thought it was a way of saying that the people listening are America. ...”

I believe it opened a lot of minds a little bit more. Per Newt, not even Reagan's acceptance speech was better.

GO TRUMP!!!

Trump having his family come up there on the stage wasn’t wierd at all; he included pence and his family, and by extension, everyone watching.

Amen brother!!! The current power structure needs to be demolished and rebuilt. Who better to do it then someone who has built things his entire adult life.

“He said he will nominate Justices to the courts in the mold of Scalia who will uphold and respect the Constitution.”

And THAT is what this election is all about.

For instance, Ol’ Crusty has said that the USSC “got it wrong” with the Heller decision; she is steadfast in her belief that the 2nd Amendment does NOT guarantee an individual right to possess a firearm.

Trump MUST win in November. The very life of this country as a constitutional republic is in the balance.

Au contraire. He was speaking directly to each person watching. That is his strength. His ability to connect with people on a one to one basis. If you don’t see that, I feel sorry for you.
