Vanity - After Convention, Trump should make a Civility Speech
Me | 07/15/16 | Self

Posted on 07/15/2016 11:09:33 AM PDT by Yaelle

I think that soon after the Convention, Trump can make history and rally everyone around him with a Civility Speech. He needs to announce it, act like its gonna be Yuge, then deliver a speech to every American about civility.

Some of the content should be:

- saying that he hopes everyone is either watching, or will watch it later on YouTube, even if they don’t like HIM because this is about all of us, not him

- saying that American civility will be a bully pulpit focus in his first 100 days in office, but that we can't wait til then; more people will die before then and a good leader needs to inspire greatness in others

- we all need to understand what “civilization” means. That it means kindness in a very general way, kindness to all, even those whom you can’t see. When you are civilized, that means not behaving with hot reactions like animals do, you treat people with CIVILITY

- how 250 years ago it was said that “America is great because she is GOOD.” Meaning you can trust her people. Meaning we strive to be lawful and treat others with civility. Politeness. We’ve lost that.

- a heartfelt plea to all Americans, all races, all professions (even if you are in law enforcement), to make a yuge effort to treat everyone you meet and everyone you don’t meet with civility and respect. Keep your towns and cities clean. Parks and streets are better not filled with trash. Open doors, smile, be decent.

- not to think about how others have done you wrong or threatened you in the past but to treat each new person with respect. Not generalizing that “all cops” or “all people of a certain culture or race” deserve any less than human kindness and civility.

- Confidence that we as Americans are up to it and can do it.

- surprise each other with our kindness and decency and it will make America a better place to live and a safer place to visit (he can quote from other countries’ recent warnings at how unsafe some of our cities have become)

- make it short and concise

It's not a dumb idea. We have just not heard any talk of civility for quite some time.
Obama has divided us. Divide and manipulate the masses to believe evil. That is what he does. He is of Satan.
I believe God will use Trump to give an opportunity to unite and fight the enemy and then turn back to God and He will heal us. (God that is) We must be careful not to worship a man, but instead have faith in God again. That would be civility, like in ‘western civilization).

HiTech, good comment. Trump’s many insults of so many are seen as very uncivil by most everyone, including those who will vote for him.

The FR comments back and forth between Trumpsters and Cruzers were also uncivil.

I realize this election year is diferent. But historically, when we run on issues we win. When we run against Monica or some other ad hominem we lose.

What we need is Jesus.

When men (and women) find and follow Christ, it's amazing how much better their lives are and their behavior reflects that change.

The change comes from within after finding Christ, not from without by trying to be good and more civil!

After he’s sworn in, he should have our brave military bomb the sh*t out of Rakkah (I don’t care how it’s spelled). Then when the libs and terrorists whine, he should say that the next terrorist attack will result in the total destruction of mecca. He should make good on the threat when the next attack takes place.

“Civility” is something Democrat baby-murderers accuse Republicans of not having.

yes, but for those who don’t believe they need it stated in ways they may more easily accept. Like paul said he speaks different ways to different people but it’s always the gospel.

That;s why I try to remind people to look at the root of the issue, not the people or what was said or what happened even, but the spiritual root (envy, greed, feelings hurt etc etc all boils down to idolatry and our need for Jesus)

praying more eyes and hearts are opening :)

I agree. After Bataclan the town in Bruxelles where those monsters hid out should have been blown off the map. And now something needs to be done to Tunesia.

“Civility” is something Democrat baby-murderers accuse Republicans of not having.

Civility is something the democrat baby-murderers, adult-murderers, race-rioters, thieves, cheats, gun-grabbers, and petty tyrants utterly lack. It's long past time to call them out on it.

Sorry.

Forgot the Dykes and Fairies. They’re utterly uncivil, too.

I am sorry for the pain you are feeling from your cat passing on.

Your intent was good, but at this time, this approach would be twisted back to demean Trump. I hope you can see this is likely to occur. Look at Ben Carson, who's a nice guy with a Christian message, but isn't taken credibly. “He looks like he's sleeping,” people say.

At least men need a man who we know both shows and commands respect. He need not be flawless, but he must be strong. We have voted for a great number of “men” who were really little girls, at best. Men should not go around apologizing and compromising every good principle they ever stood for, because they will be made fun of and not be respected by anyone (men or women) because “he stood for nothing and no one could trust him.”

Men will get on board with a guy who does such things properly. Look at Reagan. He even had grudging respect from virtually all Democrat men, even if they disagreed. To this day, 0bama and the liberals are trying to “find Reagan's special sauce formula.” They cannot bring themselves around to understanding the truth behind Ronald as his formula for success. He had consistent, positive principles, stood for those principles, and believed them to his core. To the extent Trump has them and evidences them consistently, he will have the effect in time you desire from a “civility speech.”

Talk is cheap, to most men (unless they are girly-men). We've had far too much talk that never has substantive follow through. Action is now needed, because no one believes anyone’s words anymore.

This is partly why Trump is now so big. He stood by non-PC words and let himself be pilloried. He's put his name and businesses on the line while the negative crud keeps flying at him. He's risking money and friendships for his words.

For men, this tells us something positive and we know we can respect such a person.

His example will help undo the problems of which you speak.

It was a fine idea...that’s what FR is all about.

Hang in there and keep thinking.

It wasn’t just to be nice.

They secretly agreed with the Left. It was a Uniparty, with the Republicans playing the Bad Cop that everyone could safely hate. They were all globalists. That is why they all fear Trump.

I despise so-called W; I consider him a traitor.

This whole “civility speech” thing would be a gigantic waste of time. It’s not Trump’s job to make the country “civil”. He’s not Miss Manners, he’s the guy we want to hire to secure our border, get some jobs back, and kill terrorists.
