I think that soon after the Convention, Trump can make history and rally everyone around him with a Civility Speech. He needs to announce it, act like its gonna be Yuge, then deliver a speech to every American about civility.
Some of the content should be:
- saying that he hopes everyone is either watching, or will watch it later on YouTube, even if they dont like HIM because this is about all of us, not him
- saying that American civility will be a bully pulpit focus in his first 100 days in office, but that we can't wait til then; more people will die before then and a good leader needs to inspire greatness in others
- we all need to understand what civilization means. That it means kindness in a very general way, kindness to all, even those whom you cant see. When you are civilized, that means not behaving with hot reactions like animals do, you treat people with CIVILITY
- how 250 years ago it was said that America is great because she is GOOD. Meaning you can trust her people. Meaning we strive to be lawful and treat others with civility. Politeness. Weve lost that.
- a heartfelt plea to all Americans, all races, all professions (even if you are in law enforcement), to make a yuge effort to treat everyone you meet and everyone you dont meet with civility and respect. Keep your towns and cities clean. Parks and streets are better not filled with trash. Open doors, smile, be decent.
- not to think about how others have done you wrong or threatened you in the past but to treat each new person with respect. Not generalizing that all cops or all people of a certain culture or race deserve any less than human kindness and civility.
- Confidence that we as Americans are up to it and can do it.
- surprise each other with our kindness and decency and it will make America a better place to live and a safer place to visit (he can quote from other countries recent warnings at how unsafe some of our cities have become)
- make it short and concise
It is one aspect of it, but not the entirety of it.
Certainly, being clear on what is going to happen, at least gets everybody understanding. They might not all like it but at least they won’t be arguing about what it means.
But it isn’t the entirety.
If we do not see Jesus’ ministry presented in the round (Trump does well to make room for it, but does not have to be its direct proponent), we will soon flub and fall and fail.
??
Civility speech is newspeak for snowflake safe spaces.
When declaring he should make a civility speech one is assuming whatever speech he’d make would not be civil. And that he somehow needs coaching to be civil.
The image Trump has created for himself is of a person who is very uncivil in his speech. In order to give a speech on civility he would have to first announce a total conversion in religion and denounce his entire primary campaign.
(Of course, Trump isnt the only one who lacks civility.)
Please prove that it must be so, rather than it only can be so?
You cannot, however.
And EVERYBODY needs coaching from God.
Unfortunately, that's like trying to talk to a tiger ready to lunge and kill you for dinner.
From time to time, in our local community after a particularly offensive drive by shooting, people gather for a prayer and/or candle light vigil asking for an "end to the killing."
It's promoted all over TV but it is viewed by two groups that either can't or won't do anything about it: suburban whites who've never participated in a drive by shooting in their lives and wouldn't ever commit such a senseless act; and black drug king lords who don't tolerate getting 'dissed so commit drive by shootings daily!
I heard one preacher address this situation by posing a hypothetical request: go out there (in June) and pick a green peach and eat it.
One can leave a thing to God to be improved without being consumed in “denouncing” it.
That’s Mom & Dad’s speech-and training-to give, not the president of the United States or candidate for same.
There is a special food to feed the tiger that will tame it.
Trouble is, that food can only come from heaven, not from men, and the tiger cannot be forced to eat, it can only be wooed.
Also, many if not all of these Freeper Advisors to Trump should go on the road as gipsies as fortune tellers:
Thanks to Covenantor
Good point, it ought to be so in a country that knows what is right.
But serving, if not by choice, in a position that is viewed even if wrongly as the godfather of America, it ends up mattering.
Again, though, I wonder about the Pence factor now. Where does he stand on evangelism. Might he point to other evangelists even if not essaying it personally. This could be a better light in the Trump campaign than we dared to believe.
If the best you can do is mock based on warped presuppositions, you end up being the mockee in the end.
Trump is very civil. He speaks bluntly, he makes mistakes, but he doesn’t hit people or shoot them or throw rocks at them. He pays people, doesn’t steal, gives tips, opens doors.
I was talking about the BLM crowd. People who accept animal behavior among our citizens. We need to inspire humanity.
“God cares about you too” would be the best tack that could be taken.
And maybe Pence might be a better spokesman for that, than Trump. We’ll see.
Your point is that some people are too decivilized to be roused to decency. I am hoping they have brains in there they just haven’t been taught to use, and that social pressure to be decent and not just react violently to any slight will work its magic, if not on this generation, maybe the next.
#civilizedbehaviormatters
Violent reaction to being dissed is something a squirrel can do. Also mating with anything around.
We need to expect human behavior.
Nonsense.
The personwho wrote this piece is not doing so to give godly advice.
Like all libtard journos it is a threat advice piece to an enemy. It is another democrat-style if the republian winner knows whats best for them he better take my advice.
And you ought to know this by now.
Amen!
