And I hear that the Dept. of Corrections uses something called Julian days to calculate the length of your sentence. (I'll worry about figuring that out should the need ever arise.. ;-)

It was ten days in October that got lopped off of 1582..

England switched in the mid-18th century and were still dealing with old-calendar/new-calendar issues two generations later.
