If you love pets and animals and sometimes pray for them, I'm asking if you could say a little prayer for our kitty Ciel. She is only five years old, a sweet, smart Balinese. She was perfectly healthy and active until two days ago, when she started vomiting foam and stopped eating.
Today we took her in to the vet and she has acute renal failure and diabetes. He gave her IV fluids, some meds to fight nausea etc, and a little insulin. We are to give her sub q fluids and try to get her to eat. He says that she can recover completely but she needs to eat and keep food down. He gives her a 60% chance of survival because she is young and it is acute.
We love her so. She is usually riding on my son's shoulders or fetching toys for us to throw. Or annoying her older "sister" cat. It's unbearable to see her like this.
Thanks in advance for your prayers.
We are living in a war zone. Oh we might not see physical bullets and shells and bombs, but this war is going on at a spiritual and metaphysical level. Ephesians chapter 6.
God’s other creatures being caught up in the consequences of the fall of humanity, we may ask whether God will catch them up in the consequences of humanity’s salvation, and the scripture seems to suggest the answer is yes. If someone has to put a pet out of its suffering, I suggest Romans 8:19-21 as a memorial for that reason.
And love is the means through which God fights this war, resulting in a very odd and often senseless seeming world of sacrifices. But God is a God of yesterday, today, and tomorrow to infinity. The devil got Ciel’s body, just like he eventually gets all our human bodies. But that’s all he ends up getting, if the scriptural theme I am seeing is accurately perceived. He (and his sad, willing human subjects) will be gnashing teeth forever in hell at being unable to overcome the love of God in their hate — while all heaven is busy cheering the Lord forever. A display of everlasting spirits of the animals that the devil thought he had destroyed would be most fitting for the character of the Lord as He seems to describe Himself in the bible. We don’t see much more than hints in the bible, but again it is because humanity is at the center of this drama. Pets would not need any preaching because they are influenced by their circumstance and not by the kind of moral free agency that God uniquely bestowed upon humanity.
I feel your pain too.
The love we had, the fun we had with her was worth the hellish pain of losing her. But it really hurts bad.
Thank you. The difference between her facial expressions and her body comfort were night and day between when she was at home sick and when we all were petting and loving and crying with her in the vet, saying goodbye, were night and day. She was looking the best she had in a week, looking at us, looking comfortable. It was truly like she knew she would soon not be in discomfort, and that she knew she was loved and felt bad for us too.
My heart breaks for my son. She was his baby. They were very attached. He is a great young man, so great with kids and pets. He has just started composing music: maybe he will write something for his beloved Ciel.
By the way, he was the one who was dragged to rallies and protests his entire life. Was a baby in the stroller rallying for W during the 2000 election fiasco month. Had to grow up hearing Rush every day. And now his first voting election, he is apolitical. He did vote Trump but he really has zero interest in politics at all. He is in those rumspringen years but he doesn’t do too much crazy except music festivals and roller coasters. He’s quiet and such a good son. I mourn his loss more than my own.
You saw a fight between God (and His righteous angels) and the devil, up close and personal.
Please offer the memories of Ciel to the Lord with thanksgiving. Because He will bring something wonderful out of it all for you if you do.
Doesn’t the word Ciel itself mean Heaven, or Sky?
Not everybody follows all the ins and outs of politics. It is another arena at which some people do well, others do not.
Politics, in the end, is simply another facet of our world. It does not run everything in our world nor ought it to. We know that when it does, the conditions in the world get closer to hell rather than closer to heaven.
[We know that when it does] or rather, when it tries...
Sincere condolences on the loss of Ciel. It’s hard to let them go. It’s been 11 years since I lost my 10 year old Timmy to cancer, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I don’t think of him. He is still missed, and like your Ciel, he was a very special cat.
I am so very sorry. Been there with more of our wonderful pets than I thought I could endure. You loved her unconditionally, and she returned it I’m sure. My older cat of the group is about her age, and it’s so very hard when they become frail or ill. Prayers for you and yours, and for your kitty; you’ll see her again.
I’m so very sorry, Yaelle. She was very beautiful.
We are with you in your sorrow. Prayers up....
My cat Punkin made it through 2 years of kidney trouble but at the end, she looked like she had been run over by a Mack truck. I think God caused her to stick around for me. Even when she went blind at the end, she came to a whistle (yes, like a dog).
Not a sparrow falls apart from the will of the Father.
Yaelle, I am so sorry about the loss of your kitty.
But this experience, as difficult as it is, will help to make your son a kind and thoughtful man. The circumstances were very different, but I lost a beloved cat when I was about six or seven years old. It was one of many experiences that caused me to think not only about my own feelings, but about those of others who may be going through something similar. Even grief and loss generate love.
God Bless you and your family,
-JT
I was sorry to read about your sweet Ciel. Those of us who have loved and lost these precious creatures in our lives totally understand the pain you are all feeling.
Though no other animal can take her place, it would be a wonderful tribute to Ciel for you and your kids to visit a shelter and adopt a new kitten in need of the kind of loving home you can provide. I know from experience that they DO heal our broken hearts.
Hi Buddy just found out about Ciel I am so so sorry for your loss I was so hopeful she would make it ever since I read this my heart is breaking..she is at peace now and she will never be forgotten, such a good kitty I cant even imagine having to say goodbye to your best buddy :(
no, no prayers for a kitty....I will pray for those murdered in Nice...for the Dallas cops....for the little boy swiped by the alligator....
Thanks, sweet Sarah. Heart breaking is such a perfect description. I made a video of stills and one vid of her to Stevie Wonder’s song “As,” yes, the Dallas Police Chief gave me the song idea.
I’m so happy my extremely sad teen son is out pokemoning tonight. So nice and distracting and his friends all know of his loss. Me, I’m sitting on the couch without Ciel on my lap and it bleeping hurts.
There is a time for everyone to go but this seemed way too soon. Just not fair.
Thanks so much. Yes, we have lost a pet before, and no beloved animal is ever replaceable, but a new kitten would indeed help us heal. We are moving in August so maybe in September... It is too soon but then again I know us, and we love pets, so it will happen at some time. Her “older sister” seems to miss her at meal time. She was often annoyed by Ciel but I think she is so alone now.
When I first posted the thread, I deliberate wrote it only for people who DO pray for pets. All others were free to click away. No problem.
I believe everything you say too. But my heart breaks for him as only a Mom’s can. I do believe to love animals is a trait that can last a lifetime and make you a better, more compassionate person.
When we watched the video I made of her last night, again tonight, my not yet five year old started to cry. It is good she has those feelings. We’re all a bit raw tonight and the world just keeps going crazy around us.
