SIERRA VISTA All but one of the loose dogs recovered by local police or animal control officers and sent to the Nancy J. Brua Animal Care Center around the 4th of July holiday have been reunited with their owners.
The local animal shelter saw a significant uptick in the number of dogs brought into the shelter around the holiday, most likely due to becoming scared and panicked by the detonation of fireworks, said Arleen Garcia, animal control supervisor for Sierra Vista.
By Wednesday, four of the 10 dogs had already been reunited with their owners, who were easily notified due to their pets being tagged, microchipped or otherwise identifiable.
Good News indeed
These dogs are still looking for their owners in Orange County (CA).

I know a few cats who became nervous wrecks too, over the 4th of July Holiday. Nowhere to run, nowhere to hide!
Not dogs but 4-legged loved kids/companions.
Get your dog microchipped.
A QR collar/tag will make it easy for any one with a QR enabled smartphone to look up the dog online.
Its easy to reunite a lost pet. If it doesn’t have ID, its lost for good.
Charlie sounds like a real cutey. Unfortunately, we lost our big black lab baby last August so we didn’t have to worry about him.
Just remember, that, the Heavenly Gate, Has a Dogie Door on it. In light of that you didn’t lose your big black lab, he/she is waiting for you.
Poor babies. If only they’d been brought inside, they wouldn’t have been lost.
Same here and other weekends or Wednesdays or any other night. Ours are used to the noise but I still like them inside at night. There are some wealthy folks all around us who think nothing of spending $20k on fireworks trying to out do the neighbors. Did I mention I hate holidays and summer weekends?
Thankfully they can only buy fireworks a couple of weeks before the 4th & new year’s or it would be a regular occurrence around here. They live it up during those weeks though. It really does make one hate the holidays.
I was worried about how my 5 month old puppy would do with the fireworks. Once they started, she wanted to go outside to listen to them. I was amazed.
I once lived in a three story victorian house. We were all outside on Independence Day - in the front yard and the dog was inside because he hates fire works. Suddenly he appeared next to me - he jumped through the screen on a third floor window. He was okay. He broke his fall on the porch roof.
Thats how old Charlie was for His 1st NewYears.
