Wow.
A sweet touch of class and individuality @ the franchise.
I’ve not studied the Chick-fil-A franchise model in particular, my understanding of owning a franchised chain restaurant involves making a financial commitment to uniformity of the corporate brand regardless of the particular restaurant’s location.

Then there’s the legal ramifications should something go wrong, like a vase falling and breaking.
Goodbye profits and business and house and home after the lawyers’ve sucked you dry.
Just thinking about both sides of the issue.

The choice should be between a credit card and cash.

Debit cards are an abomination.

Either pay in folding money (or check) or put it on your credit card and pay off the balance every month.

Consider if there is a problem. With a debit card, they yank it out of your account, and you have to explain why it should be restored. With a credit card, you owe them an amount, and you can dispute it!

Of course, with cash, the second party has it, and, if there is a problem, it is up to you to get it refunded.

Credit cards are the better alternative (the third party can often enforce a dreaded chargeback against the second party).

I recommend AX as a highly competent third party (and I get six percent back on groceries).

However, despite its unquestioned validity, when I attempted to pay a recent veterinary bill with a $20 Saint-Gaudens Gold Double Eagle, the girls behind the counter refused to take it, and said I needed to find a bank somewhere to change it into paper currency.

How much was the bill?

A quick google pegs it at about 70 Jacksons.

Let me restate my statement:

CASH always talks. Stop being tracked by using your credit/debit card. Pay in cash.

I don't have a credit card. And vary rarely use my debit card to pay for things. The debit card is used mostly to access ATMs for a cash withdrawal.

If you use a credit card, I agree with you: pay it off every month.

My bank canceled my cards (without telling or consulting me) because of the Wendy hack. They gave no information and this article seems to indicate that the hack involved purchases at the Wendy stores.

While it may be annoying to Wendy and hurt their bottom line, I don’t live within 500 miles of those locations and besides I doubt that anyone could eat enough of Wendys stuff to seriously dent my bank account without me noticing since I don’t eat there but once every few months or so.

But as a result of my bank action, I had my card refused at a couple of stores before I figured out something was up. And the regular online payments I had scheduled with insurance companies and public utilities were refused and I had to wait for my new cards to get them reset.

I would have rather had a crook get a double meat with cheese.

Home cooking using left overs is one thing, but in a fast food place? Not so much. I remember granma always had a pot on the back of the stove just simmering away. We had left overs at her house so many times I never knew what the original meal was.
