US Marine Corps removes the word 'man' from 19 job titles and adopts gender-neutral descriptions

The word 'man' is being taken out of 19 job titles with the United States Marine Corps, it was reported this week. The news comes months after Defense Secretary Ash Carter ordered the military in December to open all military jobs to women
Secretary of the Navy Ray Mabus called in January for a review of Navy and Marine titles.
Mabus has said that he wants titles that more accurately convey who is doing the job and what the job is.
He has said: 'In the overall scheme, it's a small thing, but I think it's important because it's what sailors and Marines call each other, and words do matter'

There used to be lots of discussion about when the “Old Corps” ended - usually it was when we stopped using particular weapons like the ‘03 Springfield or the last war.
But now we have a new marker: the Old Corps was when we still had men in our names and actual men leading.
