Astonishing images from NASA reveal no visible sunspots are currently visible on its surface.
This has caused the star to go into "cue call" mode having entered its quietest period for more than a century, Vencore Weather claims.
Decreased activity is not unusual as solar activity changes the volatile star's surface in 11-year cycles, astronomers say.
But researchers are warning this current cycle could have a devastating impact on Earth's atmosphere, possibly ushering in a second ice age, similar to the one which began in 1645.
Paul Dorian of Vencore Weather says the blank Sun is a sign that the next solar minimum is approaching.
He said: "At first, the blankness will stretch for just a few days at a time, then itll continue for weeks at a time, and finally it should last for months at a time when the sunspot cycle reaches its nadir.
"The next solar minimum phase is expected to take place around 2019 or 2020."
The Sun went completely spotless on June 4 with activity remaining low for several days.
It came after another period of low activity in February when NASA images showed the sun in "cueball mode".

You mean it’s not CO2? Who knew?
CO2 I tell you. We have to get rid of all fossil fuels. sar/
Quick — emit more carbon!
I have a Parka and Gloves
It's 100 out here today where I live.
Does this solar cycle mean it might only be 90-95 degrees here at this time next year?
Or will we be -90?
Either way, I'm:
Global warming and global cooling at the same time? Gawrsh! That should result in perfect 70 degree temps year round.
Bring it on!
Sparking “ice age fears” in only the ones who understand the science. I have a libturd coworker who has bought into the AGW thing so thoroughly everytime I try to talk solar cycles with him he asks why I don’t believe in science instead of BS web postings.
You drink the Kool-Aid you can’t see things going any way but getting hotter and hotter until mankind is wiped out. I hope he is the first to freeze his ass off.
Well with the new ice age (sun science) and a concurrent global warming (Earth settled science), we should be on the average just right!!!!
Not to worry
Global warming will reignite the sunspots.
There are two or three ways to change the burn rate of the Sun...
1. Change its mass or composition
2. Change physics
3. Influence it with a neutron star or black hole.
She was hot back then, even with the shaved head.
Now, not so much.
We will not starve ,there’s a guy working on mushrooms that we can grow on rotting vegetation
WTF? I’ve been driving my V8 SUV so many times and we’re still freezing?? Stupid sun!
Funny, but that's the same thing that scientists are saying about the sun.

We had an ice age which began in 1645?

Mini Ice age:

WHICH PROVES TO ME THERE IS NO MAN MADE CLIMATE CHANGE!
Based on careful analysis and mathematical modeling, I have a plan for a sudden ice age:
1. Reduce energy usage, since the particulate emitted by power generation blocks sunlight and cools the globe.
2. Increase government regulation of every aspect of our lives, so the elites can ensure that the poor and minorities are not hardest hit.
3. More socialism to redistribute the reduced wealth more equitably among all affected people.
4. More globalism and less fuss about borders and immigration, so that people can relocate to avoid the worst of the ice age.
Fortunately, the same plan we used for the coming ice age in the 1970s and for global warming in the 1990s still works if 2020 brings an ice age.
