This is one of the most idiotic arguments we make on our side. We know they don’t use the term assault rifle accurately, we point it out and think we scored a point.
They just shrug and say ok, whatever you call them. They are referring to high capacity semi-autos that are near clones of military rifles.
But priggery over the proper term wins nothing for us. We do the same thing with bullets vs. Cartridges and magazines vs. Clips.
Do you really think that if you convince everybody that assault rifles are already extremely restricted, that everyone will say “oh cool it’s over”? They will simply reply that whatever was used in there club and whatever looks military is the issue.
That is what we need to fight... proper hobby terminology won’t help us win the legal debate.
Absolutely correct.
We would be wiser to cite examples such pest control, feral dogs, and multiple attacker.
These are fast-moving things that require several rounds to neutralize.
” They will simply reply that whatever was used in there club and whatever looks military is the issue.”
I have a friend that put a fiberglass replica body of a Porsche speedster on an VW Beetle frame. Looks just like James Dean’s speedster but,,, is it a Porsche? Nope! Not even close! Fun car though.
