If you are a person who believes “tolerance” is enough, you are contributing to the problem. You don’t need to beat up an LGBTQ+ person to commit a hate crime or encourage another person to do so. If you misgender Caitlyn Jenner, say problematic and incorrect things about bathroom equality, cringe at the thought of gay affection, or use phrases like “no homo” or “that’s so gay” you are contributing to the culture that fostered this crime.

Boy, I could argue with her, but two points: 1) men have NEVER defined my intelligence. I have a high IQ, and my scores on tests, SAT, and IQ test defined my intelligence; 2) if she wears thong underwear because men like looking at her arse, then, guess who she gets to blame? No one sees it, when she’s not undressed, so, if she doesn’t like it, figure it out. She doesn’t sound smart enough to be a physicist.

Maybe why she’s not so smart. She didn’t need to be. A stupid physicist is still smarter than 90% of people, but stupider than 90% of physicists. I used to be friends with a university physics professor, Cal Tech grad. Might give you an indication of my IQ.
I dated a scientist (not her) who was very intelligent, had two boys any man would be proud to raise, but conducted her life in the most appallingly self destructive manner. Rooted in a child she gave up when she was young, religious and family recriminations blossoming two decades later into all-consuming negative self worth. She also destroyed the two of us...we nearly married.
I think it’s rooted in giving up a child. Impressive that she bore a child she knew she’d give up, but with a background like that, why would she behave in a way that would get her pregnant?
Cold parents that kept her sheltered, she met a boy and didn’t know the facts of life. Overcompensating proving herself to parents’ silence ever after.
She had free psych counseling at the state U where she was doing research. Falling into drug dependency was for her a liberation from the guilt/pain, I was seeing a different person, and the first time I communicated what I was seeing she labeled me “unsupportive” and put me in the same box as her parents. We disconnected for a year, she called one day and her life was in freefall...but she didn’t want to see me, acted like I was an abuser whose crime she couldn’t remember.
And that’s as much as I need to say.
Sounds like she really suffered during her childhood. Did she ever join AA?
