Having worked for the govt for a while I can tell you that they aren’t competent enough to pull something like this off.
It depends on what part of the government we’re talking about.
You may not have worked for the govt long enough. They do this stuff all the time to literally thousands and thousands of people.
Until you have been a victim yourself its hard to believe your own govt would do it. Its totally illegal so they target people individually never in pairs or groups. No witnesses. Once the govt turns its eye on you due to you usually squacking about getting screwed over on something they keep it up an average of 2 years. Common tactics are following you in your car around town or out on the highway, riding slowly past your house, doing stuff to your vehicle such as loosening lugs on wheels, etc., breaking into your vehicle and just taking one thing. Sneaking up on your deck and turning on one knob on your gas grill, messing with you in traffic trying to get you into an accident. Even trying to run you down while you are walking your dog etc., etc.
