Reagan's son: My dad 'likely' wouldn't support Trump

Michael Reagan — the son of former president and Republican icon Ronald Reagan — said he would not be voting for Donald Trump during California's GOP primary on Tuesday. And his late father probably wouldn't, either.

“I will not be Voting for Trump tomorrow in the Calif.Primary,” Reagan tweeted Monday at Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus.

Michael was close to his dad and very active with conservative political issues. You might be thinking of the younger son, Ron, who is a long-time liberal.

Michael Reagan,

I can't say whether you're correct about who your father would have voted for in the primary

Maybe a write-in?
For Nancy? or himself?

:).

I'm pretty sure he would vote for Trump in November.

I don’t remember Ronald Reagan saying anything to sabotage Gerald Ford after Ford got the nomination. Michael Reagan is getting old and forgetful.

You’re mixing Michael up with Ron. MIchael has always been staunchly conservative while Ron is a liberal.

I agree

I think Reagan had a lot more in common with Trump than not ..... he just had a different (and better) way of expressing it

It's Trump's time

I see Michael Nobody is trying to get some pub using the family name again. President Reagan would of certainly had some policy differences with Trump and would of cringed at the way he went after fellow Republicans during the primary, but he would of appreciated the fact that Trump went over the heads of the MSM and appealed straight to the American people just us as he did back in the 1980’s. Reagan would of also appreciated the fact Trump doesn’t allow the media to define him either. Sorry Michael Nobody, but your father probably would of liked Donald Trump and probably would of found more common ground with him than you! Now go back and do what you do best and that’s to be irrelevant as always.

Laughable when kids think they speak for departed parents. Falwell’s son just did this some BS. I even saw a descendant of Eisenhower being interviewed about how things went on D-day.

Idiots. Ive seen more than enough kids that were nothing like their parents to know that doesn’t fly.

Michael Reagan has become a GOPe idiot. When it comes to Trump (freedom/capitalism) vs Hillary (socialist/communism) there’s no doubt how Reagan would vote. America first, freedom always!

Michael Reagan used to condemn his little faggy brother (who married s mother figure) for saying things like this. Maybe little Ronnie got a lot more money and Michael is running out.

Who cares about speculating if RR would have voted for Trump in the primary. I didn’t vote for trump in the primary. I’ll be voting for him in November. I’ll leave it to his son to speculate what RR would do in November, but I’m guessing staying home and voting for Hillary are non starters.

Reagan being alive and spinning in his grave would be weird. Unless he was trying to get out. But I think I know what you meant.

Well, he could not vote for Bernie in California, unless he said the exact magic words. Stunning story at link.

Bernie was literally robbed.

I know Ron Jr. and Patty are staunch liberals, but I don’t recall if they’ve ever invoked their father’s name when making public statements especially about politics. Unlike Michael, I think Ron and Patty are more respectful of their dad’s memory and his place in history.

President Reagan would not only vote for GOP Nominee Donald Trump, I think he would campaign for him against Hillary Clinton.
