A pact between two evil forces never augurs well for the rest of the world, it is like a pact between North Korea and Iran.

It is only that North Korea and Iran are not closer to each other, that they have not conspired to take each other out.

The Soviet Union had a great deal of goods and resources that Nazi Germany lacked. Had the alliance not been fractured, the economic alliance of Germany and the Soviets would have been a powerhouse combination that could have resisted almost everything Great Britain, its entire empire, and the USA could have mounted against them. Throw in Japan with that combination, and the “Western democracies” would have been a footnote in history.

Islamic terrorism would never have figured significantly. Its suppression would have been ruthless, and most Muslims would have been eliminated along with the entire Jewish population of the world.

A very different world history would have resulted. Eventually, the Soviet Union and Germany would have gone to war, but it would have been after the British were all speaking German and the US had retreated to Fortress America.

“Throw in Japan with that combination, and the “Western democracies” would have been a footnote in history.”

At the end of the war we cancelled more orders for battleships and carriers than all of those countries built, put together. Russia’s industrial might was built on the lend lease. We send them more locomotives and trucks and food than they ever could build or grow on their own even if Germany had not invaded. Even all three of them combined would not have beaten us to nuclear weapons or the long range bombers to deliver them.
