As part of a final biology exam, Utah Electronic High School asked students to determine whether a woman in a specific situation should have an abortion.
The multiple choice question presented a scenario in which a 40-year-old woman is pregnant and has discovered that the child has Down syndrome. According to the scenario, the doctor has recommended that the baby be aborted. Students are asked to choose between the following options:
A. The parents should wait until the baby is ready to be born, then re-do the genetic tests to see if the results have changed.
B. The parents should consider many aspects of this decision including religious beliefs, financial burden, the effect on other family members, the mothers health, the doctors recommendation, and the life of the unborn child, and make the best decision for everyone.
C. The doctor has more scientific knowledge. The parents should follow the advice of the doctor and have the abortion.
D. The parents should consider the wishes of the mother, since she will carry the greatest responsibility for the child, and do whatever she wants.
On Wednesday, an image of the question was posted online by Utahns Against Common Core, after Electronic High School sophomore Cody Okerlund took a picture of it with his phone.
Oak Norton, an activist affiliated with Utahns Against Common Core, says the question potentially violates Utah law by testing students moral, political, or religious beliefs. Norton also noted that the answer options do not include an answer that respects the life of the preborn child.
Its getting at, really, a survey of their beliefs, said Norton. Its an opinion question, and it doesnt even include a full range of opinions.
According to The Salt Lake Tribune, the question was removed from the tests after parents voiced their concern. EHS principal Kathleen Webb says it is unclear who wrote the question, but that it does not appear to have been written by the schools biology teacher. Webb called the question obviously inappropriate, and said she intends to investigate the situation.
Utah arth ping.
Any student can put a stop to this by answering in the affirmative if the woman is of certain group
What, no lesbian reference in the questions?
I did not see any biology in the question.

Case closed.
Oh and we will do it again.
High school students should be prepared for discussions on moral issues like this. They have to start applying critical thinking two social issues. It seemed to me there were a wide range of answers and that the Spectrum was covered. Did I miss something?
Abortion, dickchopping, homo stuff. Is that what schools are teaching?
Indoctrination. Yes that is what they are teaching. Why do you think we have an arth ping here? Don’t send your kids to public schools!
This has not place on a biology test. I ran into a similar issue regarding a biology assignment when my daughter was in high school. I told the teacher it was not an ethics class. That she was not qualified to teach ethics. That my daughter would not be answering the question as we were strongly pro-life and since a faith based answer would most likely not be received well would rather give the matter a pass.
A. The parents should wait until the baby is ready to be born, then re-do the genetic tests to see if the results have changed.
And if the results are unchanged, the parents can elect to do what? Partial-birth abortion is just plain old murder.
When my wife was pregnant with our daughter. The doctor came in with a test saying it indicated she would have downs... He said we should confirm with amnio... I said nope. We are having this baby... The nurses said you should watch this video, which was basically all the reasons you should abort... we walked out. She was born some months later.... perfectly normal... well.... extraordinarily normal... she is brilliantly smart, beautiful, dynamic socially... she is 12 and attending college classes... I often think, those poor women that have only fear that believed the tests killed their babies and never thought... what if the tests were wrong let alone, making a choice of killing their child out of social and emotional fear. So sad... And I know, there are many who have. There is Forgiveness and full redemption for you, I promise. Please seek out the loving merciful Grace of Jesus, Just ask Him, if you need any help with that please private message me....
Just exactly how many examples do they need of Downs-afflicted people leading happy, productive lives?
“Utah Electronic High School”
SERIOUSLY? Utah ELECTRONIC High School?
And there are still some holdouts, ON THIS SITE, that think that parents have even some control over what the schools are doing.
Yes. You missed that all of the provided answers presume that killing a baby is a generally acceptable thing to do. They blew that one right past you.
The correct answer is "E: Abortion is killing an innocent human being, and always wrong."
The liberal loves baby murder.
Where is “None of the Above”?
So how did it get on the test?
Hacker?
Thank you. Appreciate the kind reply and the help.
Joey Feek the female half of the C & W, gospel singers gave birth to a Down’s Syndrome little girl about 2.5 years ago. Then she got Cervical cancer, the doctors thought they got it all and with treatment pronounced cured, months later the same STRAIN returned as a 9 mm Sigmoid tumor, Surgery, treatment, thought cured, before the next round of treatment a CT was done, MORE tumors, Joey died a few months ago. Joey said she won either way, if she won the battle against cancer she got to stay and raise Indy, if she lost she got Jesus and Heaven.
But I want you to look at how precious the Feek’s think their Indiana (Indy) is. She already can sign her simple needs. And is going to one of the best schools in the nation for a Down’s child. http://thislifeilive.com/
