1. My MS/HS teams were “Crusaders.”
2. I gave a lot of money after graduation. A lot.
3. They changed the name to appease others.
4. The money stopped. (Mine.)
5. Plea: “give again, the others DON’T.”
6. Plea unanswered. Kids going elsewhere.

My HS, and kids current school is a former Catholic school with the Crusader mascot. There were rumblings of replacing it a few years ago. They are trying to recruit international students and afraid they may offend. They would lose a lot of cash if they ever did that. I was quite pleased last night when a student from China gave the opening address at the class night for the graduating class, ended her speech with a loud “Go Crusaders”.
