The US Patent Office invalidated two of SmartFlash LLC's patents where they claim to have a patent on the method of selling digital content or files on the Internet. . . All digital content or files of any type that can be stored and then purchased by paying money for access to download any type of file. The panel of judges ruled this was an abstract concept, an idea, which is inherently non-patentable. The two patents of this type were used as part of the $533 million judgement against Apple which was on appeal. Another similar digital file for pay patent was invalidated in March which was also held by SmartFlash LLC. PING!
