Oh, you probably counted correctly.
Haikus are SUPPOSED to be 5-7-5.
The thing is, some words can be different syllables because folks pronounce them a little differently, especially depending on regional accents, and on top of that I went to public school, so really all bets are off.
Feel free to correct my work.

re: numerical sequence of haiku ... did not know the ‘5-7-5’ setup, only knew the ‘17’ rule.
Shakespearean was more suited for the Western mind, although there are some that would gladly write poisoned poetry in Classic language, for deeper ethereal connotations.
(Chaucer was fun, too.)
