Historically, (in no particular order) Leonidas of Sparta, Gengis Khan, Octavian, Caligula, Nero, Vlad the Impaler, Ivan the Terrible, Joseph Jughashvili (Stalin), Adolph Hitler, Mao ZeDong, Pol Pot, any of the Kims in North Korea and generally any person with megalomania and no restraint.
Stalin’s hero was Ivan the Terrible. I think he saw Bolshevism more as a convenient way to gain the kind of power that Ivan had, rather than him being very much an ideological Marxist-Leninist.
