I took a wrong interstate exit and landed in East St Louis.
National Lampoon’s “Vacation” didn’t tell the half of it.

If you have to go anywhere near the cities on that list (and some of them I have), know exactly where the turns are because there may not be any safe places to pull over and look at the map. I map out where I'm getting my gas at/bathroom breaks as well. Problems prevented are much cheaper, easier and quicker than trying to unravel them.

When I was 14, we had to drive from St. Louis to Illinois. The moment we entered East St. Louis my Mother’s boyfriend hit the gas & didn’t let up until we were out of there. I was holding my breath the entire time.

That was in 1985; I can only imagine how big a cesspool it is now.
