The original was infinitely better.
But then I’m not much into remakes at all. (Very few of them ever measure up to the original.) If you have talent you can do your own music. No need to mess with something that has already been done.
I think they did a great job with “Sound of Silence.” Most of their other stuff all sounds like “Down With the Sickness”: one can tell in the first four measures.
My 16 year old absolutely loves it. Had me listen to it once. I listened and remembered my mom keeping her mouth shut when I loved some remakes that must have made her cringe.
I love Todd Agnew’s “Grace LIke Rain” that sort of remakes “Amazing Grace”, though. Never thought I’d like a rockin’ version of that! I guess music speaks differently to everyone.
