If it was Thailand, why is it not Buddhist? The coins were Buddhist.

I saw a similar such object in Thailand that was literally polished smooth by the touches of women praying for fertility

I think the point is that both the Hindu religion and the Buddhist religion reached Siam from India.

Hindu Indians once conquered Southeast Asia all the way down to present-day Indonesia.

The island of Bali still has a large Hindu presence.

Thanks! Buddhism started in India, spread out over Asia and beyond, then for a long time died out in India itself, while the older Hinduism survived both in India and in diaspora.
