Donald Trump has presented himself as a protector of conservative Christians and as the best friend Christians will ever have.
He has held up his mothers Bible and pledged to bring Christ back into Christmas.
But when the rubber meets the road, he is anything but the defender of conservative Christians and their values.
This became crystal clear yesterday morning (April 21), when Trump, appearing on the Today show, answered questions on abortion, North Carolinas Bathroom Privacy Act, and transgender rights.
When he was asked if he would like to change the Republican Party Platform on abortion, which allows no exceptions for rape, incest, or the life of the mother, Trump replied without hesitation, Yes, I would, absolutely, for the three exceptions. I would.
In response, conservative leader Richard Viguerie told LifeSiteNews, . . . he has zero chance of accomplishing that. The Republican Party is not going to change. We are a pro-life party, and the Republican Party is not going to change that.
Certainly, the questions of rape, incest, or the life of the mother are terribly painful questions that deserve thoughtful and compassionate answers, especially from other women
But if youre pro-life, youre pro-life. As Kristan Hawkins of Students for Life for America asked, Does he want to put an exception into the platform saying it's OK to murder a two-year-old child whose father is a rapist, too? Or is he only OK with it as long as the child hasn't been born yet?
In the words of Rebecca Kiessling, herself conceived by a rape, Donald Trump has the audacity to suggest that the Republican grassroots has been wrong to believe in protecting innocent children like me who were conceived in rape. My message to Donald Trump, and others like him is this: Punish rapists, not babies!
So much for Donald Trump being a pro-life champion and defender of conservative Christian values.
But it gets worse.
He actually criticized North Carolinas HB2, designed to protect the safety of women and children, stating, North Carolina did something that was very strong, and theyre paying a big price. Theres a lot of problems.
He indicated it was best to let people use the bathroom they felt comfortable with, showing no concern for all the people affected by that decision.
Yet across America, it is conservative Christians who have raised their voices the loudest in support of bills like HB2, standing up for the safety and privacy of women and children and not wanting heterosexual predators to use the loophole of transgender rights to prey on our wives, children, or grandchildren.
Senator Cruz had no trouble voicing his support for HB2, stating last week that these laws made perfect sense because men should not be going to the bathroom with little girls.
He said, That is a perfectly reasonable determination for the people to make.
But of course.
In stark contrast, Trump said that Bruce (Caitlyn) Jenner would be welcome to use the ladies room in one of his buildings.
I wonder how his wife and daughters would feel if they were in a bathroom and a burly, transgender woman came walking in?
Or what if they were coming out of the shower stalls at a gym, with their towels wrapped around them, only to find a biological male sitting there in his underwear?
Would he have no problem with this?
Perhaps Donald Trump is not only failing to protect the rights and liberties of babies in the womb and conservative Christians but also of women in general?
In response to Trumps remarks, Ted Cruz issued this statement:
Donald Trump is no different from politically correct leftist elites. Today, he joined them in calling for grown men to be allowed to use little girls public restrooms. As the dad of young daughters, I dread what this will mean for our daughters - and for our sisters and our wives. It is a reckless policy that will endanger our loved ones.
Yet Donald stands up for this irresponsible policy while at the same time caving in on defending individual freedoms and religious liberty. He has succumbed to the Left's agenda, which is to force Americans to leave God out of public life while paying lip service to false tolerance.
Whether you like Cruz or not (I have endorsed him, but we each have to make our own choices), if youre a conservative Christian, you have to be more comfortable with his position on these issues than with the positions of Donald Trump.
And in light of the growing tide of an increasingly irrational transactivism, Cruz was right to ask, Have we gone stark raving nuts?
If youre a Trump supporter, you might say, I know hes not a Christian and I dont even think hes a real conservative, but Im voting for him because I believe hes the best man to fix our economy and protect our borders.
I beg to differ, but I can respect that position.
But please dont look to him to be a defender of conservative Christian values or a protector of religious freedoms.
Barring dramatic divine intervention in his life, you will be sadly disappointed.
Be forewarned.
what is the point of your post?
what a stupid premise for an idiot article.
You don’t look to men for protection of your Christian values if you are a Christian.
But if you want protection from earthly enemies, I’ll take Trump’s protection against ISIS who will cut your throat over some namby-pampy politician who is worried about bathrooms.
Or not vote at all because the perfect candidate is not running. So throw the election to the dems that teach them.
Ok. I’ll play. What exactly about Trump’s comments regarding Planned Parenthood doing “terrific work”, criticizing Wendy Davis refusing to assign her name to homosexual marriage licenses, in violation of state law she swore to uphold, saying people should be able to use the bathroom they “feel” comfortable with, thinking there should be exceptions for defining life of an unborn child, saying you’ve never had the need for forgiveness from sin, are positions Christians should take as reasurring Trump will have your back?
Well Ted Cruz sure is nobody’s protector either.
Christians stand on their own two feet.
They know who their real protector is.
Is that the best you can manage?
Staffed in all 50 states.
Ticked off base.
Be at the birth of a brand new conservative party?
HISTORIC.
What are we waiting for?
And just think of the chaos....
Jedi.
“hes the best man to fix our economy and protect our borders.

Bottom line.
Don’t be distracted by shiny objects or squirrels going into bathrooms.
Unless you want Hillary.
I think we are asking the wrong question.
The president of the USA, even if this could be a hypothetical Mother Teresa, shouldn’t be our godparent.
Christians can rightfully press for people to believe in a higher view than Caesar requires. This is how Mississippi ended up with almost no abortion clinics — not because anyone was able to ban them, but because the demand dwindled so in the face of faith that actually had some heart.
I would say that if Christians are solicitous for those who are born, all the more so they should be for those who are born again. The example furnished by their lives is going to be what once more brings the hearts and minds back among our midst, to regain the lost sensitivity (yes that is a bible reference), to once more enter a position where killing one’s unborn child would be unthinkable by sheer moral gravity. And I won’t even say just America. With a credible enough display, it could spill over into Canada, into Mexico, maybe even the rest of the world.
What’s your point?
And did Jesus say to stomp the shit out of them?
Or out of Satan?
(No they are not the same.)
Maybe, that you are acting like a troll and why give Hillary any help? (Not saying it’s true, just that it’s the point.)
Hillary announced she spent a million dollars on internet trolls. Leftists love personal attacks. The math isn't hard.
Heck of a job Brownie. That’s who this is, new Orleans fema brown. An idiot who has always been in full GOP autosuck mode.
Dim bulb first class.
Shawn has no business in the ladies.
*room.
Well said! This is the sort of commentary we see every election, trying to get those excitable Christians all riled up about some candidate the Left is afraid of. It’s become laughable. The vast majority of us realize we’re electing a President, not a “Christian protector,” whatever that is.
Agree, but we adults need to help make aware the children just coming up and the children inhabiting adult bodies, of the many lies and deceptions all around.
I am so sick of the insults of your ilk suggesting as a Trump supporter, I am too stupid to walk and chew gum. I have probably been voting longer than you have been alive. I carefully weighed my decision to support Trump, as I always do, starting with Barry Goldwater! And, I have explained to your ilk on this forum and others exactly why. And there is no point going into it again, you won’t consider any other viewpoint but your own. You suffer from the arrogance of youth, you know nothing and think you know everything. Life will knock some sense into you, I hope.
