Didn’t know they held back kids anymore.
How would that be any different from a man thinking he's a woman?
Dude should claim he’s transgender and could play for the girls team. Shower time is a bonus.
Maybe being thirty years old and surrounded by high school age girls was an attraction too. This guy might be in a lot of trouble beyond immigration and the local athletics governing board.
Obviously we are discriminating against 30 years old basketball players in high school now. Is he Amish? That would explain why nobody questioned him when he told them he was 17.
Reminds me of a young Greg Oden
If ‘being detained’ means locked in a jail cell, I’m surprised this guy doesn’t have a lawyer who says that , at the height of 6ft 9in, his client cannot fit into the available cells befitting a humane and compassionate local government. Maybe they tell him, to lie on his cot, or just stay seated inside the cell as much as possible.
That would disqualify him. Now if he were a “transsexual” (boy to girl) and played on a girls’ team, there would be no problem, in spite of the fact that he would play better than all the real girls on the team.
Is his name Fernando Valenzuela?
A person who is 6’9” is going to dominate high school basketball no matter how old he is unless he’s physically disabled.
He just identifies as a 17 year old boy.
Ageist! /s
He may be trans-ageual.
When I attended high school in Houston our team played against another team from a black high school across town named Kashmere Gardens. Those black guys had beards and must have all been held back 2 or 3 years due to poor grades and so they looked more suitable to play for the Green Bay Packers than a HS team. It was a very uneven contest every year.
