Very cool. So funny to watch the kids in the audience. Almost all of them were chewing gum.

fairly talented singer. Read in real life he was a jerk.
Never could understand what Sandra Dee saw in him.

“Beyond the Sea” is still a GREAT, jazzy sounding song!

Thanks...what year was that? I think a bit before my time, but still I loved it. Did y’all see Nixon in the back row? And how they all dressed?

Here's the original version:

La Mer (the sea)--Charles Trenet (1946)

Another early version, sung in Dutch:

De Zee--Bob Scholte (1948)

Love the little bit of jitterbug he throws in, with a couple of the girls in the audience.

He even had a couple of Elvis-like moves going, during the refrain (?).

I’m a bit young for Bobby...I was born 18 months before he had this hit

I listened to my parents crooners....Perry Andy Bing Dean and of course Frank

Boy your music broadens with age but I still mostly listen to old stuff

You go back finding music you barely touched on

That new show Vinyl on HBO...ADULTS ONLY....had me going back gleaning Stooges and MC5 stuff I missed in my youth

On Raphsody
