I don't know about you but I'm sick and tired of this election season. FR has turned into a bickering board of bitter bubbleheads, it seems. Where we used to see Ted Cruz as a principled conservative... we now attack anyone who likes him as a "Cruzite" or "Cruzombie"... what happened?
First, there was the attack against him that he played dirty tricks in Iowa by relaying an MSM message that Carson was leaving the race. What would you do? If you are in a popularity contest against multiple opponents, wouldn't you make sure that the votes of an ideological brother weren't wasted on a failed effort? It's a logical reasoning... and you don't have days to debate it in committee, you have minutes and seconds before votes are tallied. That Cruz apologized at all for this news media-inspired fiasco shows him to be the bigger man.
Then what? He's following the rules and gathering delegates? I thought we wanted someone who knows how the game is played and can win elections... silly me. The Trump supporters don't seem to realize that DT is not the closer he claims to be. He is riding a wave of populism but is losing on the rules because he is disorganized and unprepared.
Saying all of this doesn't mean I am anti-Trump... I am anti-Dem whether the Dem is Hillary, Bernie, or Biden. Doesn't matter to me. If Trump is the eventual nominee, he will get my vote to stop the Dem machine's destruction of our great country.
In the primary, though, I want the most conservative in the race who has shown he knows how to win. That man is Ted Cruz. Why he is slimed on a conservative board is beyond me... and it saddens me. Maybe he isn't your guy... fine. Why does he have to be slimed? If he does manage to pull out an upset... what have you accomplished but hurting our best chance for conservative restoration in this country?
In the old days, your comments were referred to as exhibit A.
Well said, and what many of us are thinking as well. Sheesh and say anything untoward about Trump and the bitter invectives just come streaming forth in post after post. Yet in typically specious and child-like manner the Trumpers will blame everything on Cruz and Cruz supporters as having started everything first.
Really, it is tiresome. I am so disappointed that posters on FR can be so uncivil towards others on this board. Very eye-opening.
These delegates were stolen fair and square. Rule is rules.
>> Grow up.
*One* of you needs to grow up — Son.
Trump tried to hire Jeff Roe. Next.
I only have two worries about Cruz.
One, he was born in Canada.
Two, his father was not an American citizen at the time of his birth.
All other faults or precieved faults are null and void.
The Messianic innuendo in your title is sick and twisted. The usual dementia from the Cruz bunch.
See Ross Perot... it isn't a business. You don't get to fire Congress like a board of directors. You have to follow the Constitution and the Laws of the country... has DT demonstrated a firm grasp of these to you?
Not a career politician.
Really? Considering he has funded most of the current political class in one way or another... does it make it make a big difference if he is the puppet or the puppet-master?
Divorced from the moneyed interests that have wrecked our nation.
Really? See above... HE IS the moneyed interest that has greased palms to get his way. Don't like zoning laws or tax loopholes? Who do you think lobbies to make the system complicated enough to manipulate?
Someone that would make the Republican establishment shake in their boots.
I do like that part... but there can be many reasons for the shaking that may or may not align with your stated interests.
Chicago? We have won eleven straight elections? We have won five straight elections? New York values?
Why is only Trump being pro-American and even mentioning China and the wall to block the illegal invasion?
By the Beck standard of Scalia dying to show everyone we need Ted, Trump not being able to hire Roe proves God is looking out for Trump, not Cruz.
I wasn’t waiting for a Canadian.
Always had Cruz as my #2. Still do. However, his inability to stand up to protesters in Chicago and instead blame Trump for the violence really disappointed me. He could have been a leader. He could have sent a message. Instead he went for political points.
And while admire your gallant effort at stating the truth..you're wasting your time..you can't reason with a closed mind, or a brick wall.
>> The Messianic innuendo in your title is sick and twisted.
That’s a problem in your receiver, not in the transmitter.
Maybe. Keep in mind that those of us here at FR are political junkies and our battles are much more vicious than among the public at large.
The hurt-feelings, stay-home count will be much higher here than among the general public.
Why were you waiting for him?
Cruz doesn’t understand the economy.
He seems to me to be less conservative than Trump.
He seems to be in bed with the GOPe.
His character needs serious work including honesty and integrity.
He has very little management experience (13 gov’t lawyers)
That was the first clue. Since then, Cruz has proven over and over again that he is NOT a "principled conservative". In fact, he has shown himself to be as unprincipled as Obama. The ends justify the means. Sorry, he is just another corrupt politician, unworthy of his position. I hope the next election sends him packing from politics.
So tell us who your candidate would have been among the 17 running.
