I make no comment as to Cruz's qualifications or abilities. And a name alone means nothing (consider Jeb).

But should Cruz be the party's nominee, he will lose just as Goldwater did. Goldwater was a good man, and a patriot. But he got crushed.

Cruz is Goldwater, Part II.

The public hasn’t tolerated a few months at a time of Cruz.

Trump, Ike & Nixon have been present for decades with the tolerance of the public.

I can’t speak for Joe Six-Pack, but I knew exactly who cruz was when he came out crowing in the microphones about how we had to pass TPA so we could find out what was in TPP.

The problem with Trump is, almost everybody **does** know him, and most people can’t stand him!

The GOPE of Texas said the same thing when they picked Republican Dewhurst to be the next senator of Texas.

Observe how that turned out.

Too small a sample size to make such an observation. You don't have to be a true believer, just someone who kept an eye on the front page when Cruz held the filibuster. Sarah Palin was a true unknown, and she was a net gain for the failed McCain ticket despite the media's best efforts.

Regarding Goldwater, you could have had Jimmy Stewart and Dean Martin on the ticket and it still would have been destroyed in the wake of the JFK assassination.

Well, right now I hear his nauseating voice droning on in another room. It’s like nails on a chalkboard. I don’t think it’s so much that nasal sound, it’s the arrogance and condescension. He thinks he’s so darn smart, but as my mom used to say, there’s two kinds of smart. Book smart and people smart (she called it moxy)....Crooze may be book smart, but he sure isn’t very wise.

9) someone who doesn’t mind that Glenn Beck talked about stabbing Donald Trump
10) someone who blamed Donald Trump and said he was behind white racist robo-calls when we don’t even know if any such calls were even made (media never asked him to provide proof)

I voted for Rubio, so I don’t have a dog in the fight, but what I truly believe about Cruz is that if he is the nominee, he will have a carefully planned and well thought out strategy to defeat Hillary Clinton and he will execute it better than any Republican candidate in the last 20 years.

Whether that gets him a win I can’t say.

I believe Trump will have no such plan. He will bounce around seemingly aimlessly and will follow every rabbit the Clinton’s toss in front of him. When his adulteries and divorces are brought up, he will say whatever comes to mind as if he had never thought the question would come up. He will spend the whole campaign explaining that what he said yesterday was not what he said yesterday. It will be painful to watch.

Maybe Joe Six-Pack should lay off the brewskis and Wheel of Fortune, and pay attention for a bit. Democracy cannot be successful if citizens do not spend the minimum amount of effort necessary to be reasonably well informed.

Gingrich recently said Cruz can win the general election and he’s smarter than Goldwater.

Why would people know who he is now? He’s a new face to most of the country. The convention, debates and other appearances for the general election will introduce him to people. Did people know who Sarah Palin was before the convention?

My first vote for President was for Goldwater.

I've never regretted it...in my heart I know he was right!

I voted for Trump in the Texas primary. Warts and all...I trust him!

Trump is a doer; Cruz ia a talker and I no longer trust him.

Cruz is a man who set his sites on the WH while in college (or maybe even before) and who has groomed his resume to the point where he now feels entitled, but another guy came along and rained on his parade, so instead of regrouping for a 2020 run, he has opted to flail about and give this election away to teach the People a lesson....

People know Donald Trump and apparently don’t like him very much either, if his unfavorables are any indication. So are you suggesting they go Kasich because people think he’s a nice guy?
