A father confessed to shooting and killing his 4-year-old daughter inside their Philadelphia home on Saturday afternoon, police said.
The girls father, who has not been named, was allegedly playing with a gun when it fired, striking the girl in the face, CBS Philly reported. The girl died inside the house.
The man fled after the shooting, but he was later taken into custody.
Police originally believed the girls 5-year-old brother shot his sister, using the mans weapon. A gun was recovered inside the house.

Poor girl may she rest in peace.
The word 'allegedly' was properly used this time.
The article does not say whether (a) the father was a law-abiding citizen or (b) whether the gun was legally owned.
She was a great big sister to her litter brother.”
Litter?
Cheese-on. MAN!
there are lots of idiots that buy guns with out understanding that a gun has only one purpose that purpose is to put a hole in what ever it is pointed at so unless you plan on putting a hole in someone or something never point it at someone unless you want to kill them.
When I was 4 years old, I knew not to play with real guns.
NOWHERE does it say the pistol, the assalt weapons or the hollow points recovered were legal. The, uh, homelife, is revealing though, I think.
“At present it is not necessarily understood how Maurice Paul came to keep a gun at the family home, nor how the mans toddler son was able to get at it.
Kensington is what is called an “inner city” neighborhood.
Man was likely not legally eligible to own a gun. Would not be surprised if he was on drugs at the time.
The fact that he fled tells me all I need to know.
Most fathers would be in absolute despair if this happened and running would be the furthest thing on their mind.
.
huh? Your comment makes no sense whatsoever.
A real “man” does not play with a firearm or any weapon for that matter. Nor does he flee his responsibilities.
The girl didn’t shoot herself, the idiot father or step father did and then tried to blame it on the 5 year old brother of the little girl
Maybe he isn’t allowed. I mean, he “accidentally” shoots the kid and then runs.
If I accidentally shot my kid (don’t have any so just guessing) running away would be the last thing on my mind. I’d be more concerned with saving the kid than my worthless @$$.
But I’m weird like that I guess. I’m thinking he saw killing the kid as another trip to the joint, not as “accidentally” shooting a child. I accidentally forgot I left a full beer on the kitchen counter while chopping up some brisket last night.
According to the non infringement clause of the second amendment all arms are legally owned.
Is that a different case, because in the link you posted said the girl that shot by her idiot father was 5 years old?
That is why I put idiot father in the keywords
“According to the non infringement clause of the second amendment all arms are legally owned.”
No. If you steal a firearm from me, or buy a stolen firearm from the guy on the corner, and use it in a felony murder, your firearm was illegally obtained, just as would be an automobile or a horse that was ridden in on. There are SOME things that need to be leavened with common sense.
Is there nothing to small to not be argued about anymore?
