Same with the millionaire/billionaire snowflakes who are buying up great tracts of ranchland in the West.
For one thing they may not be stupid but they almost always are bossy, greedy and selfish---they will tend to turn on each other even if no one else gets to them first.
But likely someone will get to them first. They have ranch managers, ranch workers, maintenance staff and all kinds of neighbors who are better with equipment, tools and weapons than they are.
Why should some highly-trained Chief of Security protect the lovely wife, daughters and bountiful property of the hedge fund genius when he could just as easily call them his own?
I disagree. The very rich can be stupid—because of entitlement and vanity. They also become weak and helpless from the luxury. And they can’t handle being alone. I don’t think they’ll last an hour after TSHTF.
More like death by softness. Prosperity kills when you use it for self-indulgence. You lose your edge.
I agree a lot of them are stupid. Mostly the ones who never had to earn their way. That being said many of them are ruthless, conniving sociopaths who enjoy power games like other enjoy playing chess. For one the builder of that place would have hired good people to advise of security and they would have thought that thru if nothing else.
It’s a shame they aren’t concerned about storing treasures in Heaven, rather than clinging to this decaying world.
Now there’s a scenario that could be turned into a great movie.
