New York values?
I’ve shown up at a couple of Banned Books Week events with my Bible at the community college where I’m an adjunct.
It’s always fun tweaking the pompous, pious all-inclusive crowd.
So are they going to start burning Bibles?
Antiochus IV Epiphanes tried to destroy it.
The Caesars released the Legions of Rome to destroy it.
Mohammed tried to replace and destroy it.
Kings tried to prevent its translation.
Atheists denigrate it.
So what is in it that terrorizes them so? Perhaps they should read it and find out.
Ever notice how hard it is to post a comment on some these links! It is like the publishers do not want comments.
In this case I go to the web page to read the article, see the “Comments” link, press that and it merely reloads the same page again without the comments.

The federal government ought be neutral as to whether a book is religious or not. The cultural, historical, and to a great many moral and spiritual significance of the bible is huge, so there is a public interest in having it in libraries.
It was just today I heard a local news story that a Bible was removed from a display at WPAFB due to “complaints”!
Books are often donated.
So long as it's placed in the fiction section, under "adult" PG section, who can object?
Everyone's happy.
The real problem is selective censorship. Libraries are usually adjuncts of government. Government cannot censor. That's Constitutionally settled law.
NONSENCE!!!
GOOD GRIEF ... MAKES NO SENSE.
Freedom of liberty, choice, well being does not force
others to become Christians.
Burning books and barring books is not freedom.
It is threatening freedom at an extreme degree.. MOO.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!
Thank Thee LORD for Thy grace, mercy, loving kindness in JESUS NAME AMEN.
But, I’m sure that the Quran is perfectly welcome.
We’ll be in the 24th Century before you know it.
Each year the American Library Association fakes the “Banned Books Week” list to drum up business for itself. In reality, very few books are challenged and none have been banned since 1963. One year I found out the top listed book was challenged only four times all year across the entire USA. Big whoop. That same year the author of the ninth-listed book revealed that ALA told her others where challenged more than hers but since it dealt with homosexuality, they put it on the list.
