I started boarding in 87. I was pretty close to inventing the dang sport heh.

I never sit on runs, I don’t hold anything up. Skiers often slow me down.

I prefer steep and deep powder anyways.

Don’t lump us all together, we’re not all idiots. There are a lot of them though.

I started snowboarding in 1978, my son is well on his way to being a pro snowboarder.... he works hard and makes a fair amount of money as a teenager. I am so glad I am no longer part of your world... you all sound like a bunch of arrogant @ssholes. I see plenty of stupid people on skis every weekend.

If not for snowboarding: you all would still be performing Ski Ballet... fags

No terrain parks

No X games

Most of your current resorts would be shuddered due to having an average of 40% of the tickets/passes purchased by snowboarders...sking died in 1989, never quite recovered...

Summary: go on Instagram and look up Jerry of the Day, you will find your portraits there! Hahahahaaaa

Spray Skiers!

LOL! The last time I was on a pair of skis there were no such animal as Snow Boarders! (I still have my last pair of new skis, from the early 1970’s, the Red, White and Blue colored K-2 ‘threes’! Remember those?

Yes it is on purpose. I’ve seen them sit side-by-side at Park City and block an entire run except enough room for one person to ski through. And the width of the runs at Park City are huge. Takes all the fun out of skiing, so better to go to one of the other parks that bans them altogether. Over in Europe, they don’t put up with that snowboard crap of blocking runs like they do in the US. Many places ban snowboards entirely over there.

I've skied all over the world. I never skied competitively, but I've trained along with Olympic skiers, had an Olympic coach as a personal trainer, and tested new products. So I've been around some. I find that maybe 5% of skiers are a-holes, but 80% of snowboarders are a-holes. The other 20% of snowboarders don't seem to have a clue what they are doing and shouldn't even be out on the runs. That's just reality. Unfortunately they pay for the privilege to be a-holes, and I've got better things to do than waste my time with them.

Thanks for your reply. Your attitude is clearly shared by the same snow boarders who think they own the mountain and behave in such an anti-social manner. You've been setting the example since 1978. Good job.

Boarding didn't save skiing, it ruined it.

Ski Ballet? How old are you? Short skis came and went in a season. Is this the kind of skier you call "fag"?

But you know what they say about opinions, everybody has one.

I've always thought that boarders traveled in packs because when they spray, cut someone off, or run over them, they want the pack to protect them as they say "sorry dude" and run away. Cowards.

The areas that ban boarders are always full. Hopefully more will do the same.

K2 Downhills!! Yeah, I remember them well.

After renting for years my dad finally broke down and bought me a pair of them. They were long, sturdy and had great edges. Perfect for the ice and "packed powder" I learned to ski on in the northeast. I've owned K2's ever since.

One of my favorite places to ski when I lived in Ca. was Kirkwood. Never too crowded and the higher elevation made for better/lighter snow. The drops at the top were killer and lots of fun when I had younger legs. Any relation to your nic?

I worked for the season at Big Sky Ski Resort on Lone Mountain in Montana. It was like the Winter of 85-86, and snow boarders were just beginning to be noticed.

I never had a problem with them, but there were very few, and they watched their Ps and Qs because they knew they could be kicked off easily since most people I knew did not like them.

All three area’s than ban boarders.... all THREE... the rest understand basic economics and their clients with money and ignore the poor attitudes of a minority. Please stay at Alta... having you and all your types at 3 locations would be a dream...

Ski Ballet... do your homework.. nothing to do with short ski’s...

If boarding ruined skiing... then why do all the mountains, but three put up with us then? hahaaa you really should look in the mirror and ask that question again. You are too funny.

What ruined skiing is people like you...can’t be happy the world is out side having some fun.. families with kids out in the fresh air and maybe making a few mistakes...its part of growing up.

So glad I sprayed a young idiot skier this past weekend after chasing him down, for knocking over an older lady on ski’s and not stopping..then pointing out the carnage he created. Such fun.

For the record, I have never been anti-social nor have my children, or think we own the mountain, we respect and ride it like all the other people out there having a good time...that is your bullshit label... Speaking of attitudes and labels.... How long have you been an arrogant, $ucking @sshole skier? How old are you? Are you a closet ski ballerina? Your attitude has ruined snow boarding... I hope more area’s ban skiing! I bet you drive a BMW. That is my label on you. Does it fit? How does that sound?

I can make labels all day bub. And speaking of cowards.... I have helped recover more skier yard sale gear, blocked jumps while skiers recover stuff, gone to get Mt patrol and rendered first aid to more skiers than boarders by far... its what a normal human does on the mountain...help people out and educate the idiots about poor behavior regardless of what they are strapped into....

Did you ever think you might get the treatment you get because you are such a jerk to everyone around you? Did you just show up at the mountain a ski Jesus, perfect in every way...never once did a person wrong on the slopes or driving to the mountain to get first chair as a young buck or did your mom have a miracle birth, a Ski Jesus? Take the next opportunity to educate and help instead of being a bitter old label maker.

Back when snowboarding was just starting, I am so glad my skier Dad knocked the teeth out of some skier jerk that took my board...for no reason, I was 11, at Killington, Vt with permission from the General manager of the mountain to hike one trail..my Dad made me ask for permission since snowboarding was so new and just starting out.. I guess that made me anti-social and disrespectful.

It was a Wednesday, no skiers around, a quiet mid week at the beginning of March... said holier than thou skier jerk thought he was doing the skiing world a favor..my Dad cruised up on a snowboard tug of war which escalated to said jerk attempting to smash me with my board and then his his lecturing my Dad and refusal to hand me my board earned him 4 teeth knocked out. Thank you Dad for the mean jab and right cross! Theft is theft and attempted assault on a child is not acceptable... Dad I know you are looking down and smiling!

Mase do visit www.Jerryoftheday.net..and on Instagram. You will see some great footy of skiers cutting off, standing in way, getting slammed for standing in the trail or landing area...etc and just being all around jerks, much like you are... by the way are you or your Dad missing 4 teeth?

I don’t even get much chance to go out anymore. Between family, work and keeping certain skills sharp for the coming issues, I have no time heh.

.....................................................

Spoke to a tech salesperson today. She said it was most likely a camera mounted on a drone. They can be programmed to do what this one did.

That be exactly them! I ‘dug’ them out of storage yesterday afternoon just for grins, washed them up and they look brand new! I think I only used them 10 times or so back in the day. The bindings still had the ‘safety straps’ used in those days, (Remember those strap things!? Are they still used?) hooked to the bindings that were used to tie the skis to your legs if you crashed and the skis came off. The bindings are ‘Solomon 444’. A blast from the long ago past huh? Is there any collector value from anybody for old skis like mine?

I remember those Solomon bindings. I had Look Nevada's on mine. I finally got rid of them when I couldn't find anyone willing to work on the bindings for fear of a lawsuit. Those old time safety straps were something. Having the skis flailing around your head, sharp edges and all, as you slid down the hill, always provided an unwanted adrenaline rush. Everything was fine when you finally came to a stop with your skis still with you.....and you were conscious and not bleeding. The ski brakes that are used now stop your skis where your bindings release them, but that usually means a long hike up a steep hill to get them back.

I don't think there is much value in those old skis as they can't be used. Might be good for covering a wall in a ski condo. I have three or four pairs of skis in the attic that I should toss since owning and traveling with skis doesn't make a lot of sense today when you can rent just about anything you want. The last lift ticket I bought cost $150. That's mind boggling considering the $20 lift ticket we'd get in Vermont just 20 years ago.
