A++++ They better be disgruntled.
LOL A++++
There are people who can articulate conservative thought, have experience with conservative policy issues and can get along with other people without turning into insulting boors.
Point out that of the two choices, Trump has a far worse chance of winning the general. His unfavorables are higher than have ever been measured in any campaign since they started polling.
And it’s not like he’s an unknown. They know him. He’s got enough press over the past year or 20. He’s not going to change the minds of those 70% unfavorable.
Cruz at least has the luxury of having many of the voters (as is usual) completely clueless about who he is or what he represents.
of course I can, it’s the wide eyed true believers you see on here who deny his every foible that I cannot fathom. I posted that Trump changed positions based on political expediency and I had someone respond to me in all caps HE DOES NOT. I mean, really? he doesn’t? that’s what I am talking about. they have poured their hopes and dreams into this empty vessel of Trump and made him into what they want him to be.
Since Trump refuses to take just one position on an issue, he can win all those who only want to hear what they believe, as he will say it at some point. His “character” voters have me gaping. What character does he have? Christian values are not his core values...winning is. I cannot throw away my Christian core beliefs to vote for anyone, I am what I am.
By the way, my SIL wanted to vote in the primary to vote against Trump. LOL Our house is divided...but we are all conservative.
xsbaby cannot vote for trump, she feels very strongly about it. I will probably bite the bullet and if he’s the nominee, vote for him. Not everyone in my house will do that, and my soninlaw def won’t.
FReepers surely do not seem gruntled about Wisconsin’s election results. I am so sick of the trashing of my adopted state that I can’t read FR or watch Fox News right now. All Trump, all the time.
The people commenting on this web site and on Fox News have no idea about Wisconsin, or who lives here. But, they comment and conjecture anyway. Steve Hayes is the only one who is qualified to comment. He was raised here and understands the people. Greta grew up here too, but she has been gone so long that I think she’s forgotten a lot. She did go to school in Madison too.
Agree with you and it’s so over the top, it’s almost like someone is telling them what to be outraged about and what phrases to use.
Bullying is a good way to describe Trump - the name calling that adults on here seem to cheer and think is funny - it isn’t either. It shows a man who is acting like a child - unable to articulate his position so he resorts to ridiculous name calling and insults. Yet Ted Cruz, who many of these same people cheered when he was considered an outsider in Washington, is now the GOPe candidate.... unreal.
I’ve now gone back and read the whole thread AFTER I commented. Isn’t that the FReeper way? I have to say that THIS thread is a pleasent oasis of reason among the rest of the insanity. I linked a story in our local paper that commented about how high the WI turnout was. It included graphs and stats and showed how we had the highest turnout for a Primary since 1972. It was factual and interesting and showed that in this very blue state that the GOP turned out far more voters that the Dems. Yet, I got trashed by a great number of people claiming that the headline was misleading. I really don’t know how they could say that. It was perfectly appropriate and caused me to read the story, which is what headlines are supposed to do.
Otherwise rational FReepers leveled all kinds of charges about voter fraud, also. Here, on the ground, I have hear none of that and was watching very carefully in my own city. If there was fraud it would have been on the Trump side. Trump actually is in danger of being arrested himself for violating WI election law by entering a polling station while voters were voting.
We have new machines statewide. And well trained election workers. The only way there could be fraud would be if city clerks (or their IT consultants) had programmed fraud into the machines before they were delivered to the polling stations. But we have paper ballots that can be re counted and checked if anyone wants to bring real charges. And all those balots will be run through again at the County seats — so an awfu lot of places would have to participate in that kind of fraud. The touch screen interfaces are gone.
The only other opportunity for fraud would be people shipped across the border to register at the polls (allowed in WI). IDs were carefully checked and had to have your picture on them and proof of address. So, any attempt there would have to be massive, and the highways would have been clogged with new voters. Yes, there were new registrants on voting day, but not enough to swing any fraud.
did you read Virginia Hume’s piece on Trump the Seducer? It’s the only explanation. There is nothing normal or sensible about the way they are looking at this, and the rest of us are just looking at them, mouths agape, saying, OMG really???? you either get it or you don’t. I don’t see anyone in the middle. well I guess the few who, like Tioga’s husband, are saying I know he’s a mental case but who else do we have? that I can deal with, that’s doing a cost/benefit analysis and picking your poison. But the ones who are hailing him as a messiah just creep me the hell out. NOT a conservative, does NOT have a temperament suited to the presidency, blows back and forth like the wind on positions, nasty as a 2 year old if criticized. and I can’t stand Cruz or Kasich, so when they try to pull that, but what about YOUR GUY, it’s not relevant to me. They cannot support trump and what he does and says, without pointing to someone else. they just cannot.
NOTHING makes sense! nothing!
AFTR, the incivility and insanity has spread to topics other than Trump v. Cruz. and I have YET to see a single knock it off or reprimand to posters getting personal, maligning and just generally being HATEFUL to each other. I had a poster accuse me of being nasty and offensive by just pointing out that Trump had changed positions. I understand that trumpkins do not agree with that, but others are entitled to have an opinion contrary to theirs and a contrary opinion does not equal offensiveness or insult. their skin is as thin as their dear leader!
They are the adult versions of the college students whining about the white male patriarchy in this country....ridiculous and childish
I read here yesterday that Wisconsin was the hub of the Republican Establishment.
I saw in the paper that Trump is opening an office in Monroeville on Saturday. You’d think he’d have done that already.
The Trib reminds us that in 1924 the Democrats took 103 ballots to select a nominee. Can you imagine?
I think Donnie may have trouble with a ground game. Supposedly he hired a grownup yesterday, Manafort, but it remains unclear if Lewandowski will acquiesce to him.
the thread AFTR posted was just a virtual nuthouse. Remember when facts were vetted, polls were looked askance at, and people didn’t jump down each others throats at the drop of a hat?
The real Trump on Twitter posted about how he’ll quickly make all the bad things better! It’s so over the top and unbelievable. Like getting rid of $19 trillion debt in 8 years.
