Six weeks ago, Trump was leading Ted Cruz by 11 points in Wisconsin.

Tonight, he lost to Cruz by, it looks like, 17.

Move forward, stay on message, and be presidential He can do this. And I think he will.

Agreed. He need to run a mostly positive campaign. Focusing on his opponents should be way down on the list.

Establishment voters of WI are weird, they do what they are told and they did it. That don’t work in New York

New York is Trump’s hometown

Everyone supports the home team here

Just like if Christie was on the ticket or Giuliani

Also

Just today, the Ocean County Party in New Jersey, endorsed Donald Trump, this is huge for him Ocean County is the reddest county in New Jersey and will decide who wins the delegates. The vote at the party was 105 Trump, 26 Kasich and 6 Cruz

Here's what I don't quite understand. Urban areas tend to be more liberal than rural areas, and Cruz did much better in the urban areas in WI tonight. OTOH, the Northeast is liberal, but Cruz isn't likely to do well there.

So, why do the more liberal voters in WI like Cruz, but not the more liberal voters in the Northeast?

For several reasons. First, Trump was blasted by every local talk show 24/7 in Wisconsin. Millions were spent on negative Trump ads. Second, Wisconsin "liberals" don't get Trumps style. They don't like his "tone". New Yorkers on the other hand get him.

He stepped in it last week, I think he learned his lesson

He still calls Ted, Lyin Ted, but I think it is just branding at this point.

True and the GOPe now has 2 weeks and tens of millions to spend against Trump in NY...

I wonder how many fools will fall for it?

Makes sense—thanks.

I am in the New York market too

Will be fun to watch him spend tons of money on ad buys here

Nothing in New York is cheap....

Trump KNOWS New York. Cruz, does not.

Different demographic, you don’t tell a New Yorker who to vote for

So the tactics in WI won’t work here

And trashing Trump is going to work here either, you don’t trash the home team (this was Trump’s mistake in WI, he trashed Walker, he should have ignored him and stayed on message)

That's why it's never a good idea to believe polls so far out. Until about a week before the event, the polls are apt to be very unreliable. And even the ones close to the event are often highly inaccurate.

That's also why these "general election" polls are ludicrous at this point.

I don't know, but I hear he's going to be purchasing a lot of big apples at the local markets. LOL.

How could he be leading Cruz when for months he has 75% disapproval with the Walker-zombies?

I think WI was where it all fell apart for Santorum in 2012 too. Romney, Ryan, and Walker were pulling every dirty trick in the book, including giving out food for votes, I believe.

There’s a pattern that they don’t vote for the populist and the 2nd runner gets 30-odd percent.

I can’t wait to see Cruz campaign in New York. Should be fun to watch

Interesting. You're implying that New York Republicans will defend NYC liberal values against the conservative from Texas.

If Cruz comes here to California and campaigns against "Hollywood Values" we will know exactly what he's talking about and we will whole heartedly support him.
