A hungry squirrel in Michigan was caught on camera taking a cue from a famous New York subway rat by taking a slice of pizza and carrying it up a tree.
The video posted to YouTube by Chris Weeden shows the squirrel dragging a slice of pizza on the ground near a tree while the people filming from inside a nearby building provide commentary.
The people sound surprised as the squirrel is able to climb the tree while holding the slice of pizza and makes it to a high branch.
The squirrel evoked memories of New York's famous "Pizza Rat," which was recorded carrying a slice of pizza up a flight of stairs in a subway station.
"It's a bird, it's a plane. It's PIZZA SQUIRREL! Ann Arbor, MI's new Pizza Delivery service," the squirrel video's uploader joked.
Pretty squirrely if you ask me.
Go ahead and eat the crust and the sauce, but leave the cheese for the moose.
some kinda nut....
My sweetie used to put a cob of corn on a nail for the local squirrels to pick at. One day I did a double-take when I saw a full corn cob walking up a high tree limb, seemingly by itself. Those little beggars are strong.
I like how he went behind the tree to hide his trade secrets.
It depends on if he was eating it folded over, or with a fork and knife.
We put full slices out - after my husband takes the cheese and pepperoni off (low carb) - and the squirrels will grab them and run off with them. I saw one going up a tree in the front yard with a slice that it had dragged all the way from the back yard. Made me laugh to see it.
My squirrels carry tomatoes up a tree to eat them. Pretty impressive since the tomatoes are up to half their weight. I can’t imagine carrying something that is half my weight up a tree using just my teeth.
Big deal. I just got a new company car. Had it for just over a month when a headlight quit working. Took it to dealer who removed a few parts and found a cookie in the engine compartment underneath the washer water bottle. The rodent who managed to get a cookie into my engine also ate a bunch of wire.
I’m assuming this won’t be a one time problem since Toyota and many other car companies now make biodegradable wire insulation out of soy. (food)
That is really funny!
Squirrels. Are great fried with biscuits and gravy.
Next thing you know squirrels will be taking over the pizza delivery jobs. They will work for a lot less than $15 an hour plus benefits.
I used to put pea nuts on my fence for the squirrels. It got to the point that if I was out of peanuts, they would come and stare at me through the sliding glass door.
Neat! But someone should tell Rocky that the local pizza parlor offers home delivery
Darn! I thought he had it set to “Private”.
I guess squirrels have staff, too! LOL
