Just in case you forgot in the haze of Batman and Superman not being best friends, 20th Century Fox has released a new TV spot to remind you that Independence Day: Resurgence is coming this summer and with it, the second wave of alien invaders who nearly destroyed planet earth in the original film back in 1996. The new teaser leans heavily on the returning stars of the original film. Theres Bill Pullmans former President Thomas Whitmore interfacing with the aliens. Theres Jeff Goldblums David Levinson being exactly as deadpan and snarky as you require. Theres even Brent Spiner, who played the insane Area 52 scientist in the original film, this time apparently able to understand how the aliens communicate. Watch it here now.

How did an Apple laptop communicate with an Alien computer? I saw a youtube video on missing link cut from the movie is we copied the alien technology from apple, so communicating was a snap..
I liked Independence Day, saw it a couple of times on TV.
A couple of years ago, it was being shown nearly every week on one cable channel or another. Week after week after week.
They do know how to run something into the ground.

Looking forward to ID 2, when it hits STARZ or HBO or Netflix or Amazon Prime.
it’ll bomb.
Loved Independence Day. Hope they get the sequel right. Using the same director I see so that’s good.
Area 52 scientist? Does anybody proofread anything anymore?

Yeah! Area 52 is not even in Nevada!
My only problem is that he used Independence Day as the world’s holiday. Fourth of July is always an American holiday.
One of the great lines in the original movie, paraphrased, in the President's speech, was, "... this will no longer be known as just an American Holiday, but ....", and I forget the exact wording, but it portrayed the 4th of July as the Independence Day of the entire human race.
Yep, the original had a touch of everything and is one of my all time favorites..........I've watched it more than any other Sci-Fi movie ever......
I hope the sequel lives up to the original.....
As a side note, District 9 was a great SciFi movie filmed in S. Africa. There's been rumors that a sequel might be made (and should be) but no one has been willing to take it on.......
Goldblum is a great actor and has played great characters in great films......The Fly, the Jurassic Park series and of course Independence Day. I'm sure there's others but these immediately come to mind.........
But this was one of my favorite clips. Welcome to Earth. Now thats what I call a close encounter

Independence Day (5/5) Movie CLIP - Russell Becomes a Hero (1996) HD
It appears the POTUS is a lady.
Quite the coincidence.
He also played a nasty little thug in "Death Wish".
