MILWAUKEE -- Buster Posey is going with multi-dimensional. For Brandon Crawford, it's depth. Joe Panik chooses balance. For Hunter Pence, it's all about the collective.
"A bunch of grinders," said Denard Span. "Relentlessness, maybe?" said Matt Duffy, raising an eyebrow.
And what word would Brandon Belt select to summarize the character and potential of the Giants offense this season?
"Aw, honestly," Belt said. "I just can't wait to see how many runs we can put up."
It was the talk of the spring: How deep, balanced and potent can this Giants offense be this season? There were more smiles in between rounds of batting practice, a looser feeling in the dugout and a giddiness that pervaded camp from the very first workout.
Now the Giants' team-wide anticipation will be put to the test, starting Monday at Miller Park against Brewers right-hander Wily Peralta.
"It's hard to pick a thing that most excites me," said Pence, who will hit cleanup and has even more energy in reserve after losing 110 games to injuries last season. "Everyone, the collective, every at-bat with this group is going to be a difficult one for the pitcher. There's not a break anywhere.
"When a pitcher has to be on his game for every single hitter, it just wears him out. And that's going to make everyone in this lineup more dangerous. If the pitcher isn't giving it his all, the game could be changed quick."

Thanks. You are correct.
I made the mistake of thinking that A-Rod was gone, because I read in the paper last week that he was retiring.
Today I saw how A-Rod took the field today in NYC. Oh well.
