Greece on brink of chaos as refugees riot over forced return to Turkey

The Greek government is bracing itself for violence ahead of the European Union implementing a landmark deal that, from Monday, will see Syrian refugees and migrants being deported back to Turkey en masse.

Rioting and rebellion by thousands of entrapped refugees across Greece has triggered mounting fears in Athens over the practicality of enforcing an agreement already marred by growing concerns over its legality. Islands have become flashpoints, with as many as 800 people breaking out of a detention centre on Chios on Friday.

Some 750 migrants are set to be sent back between Monday and Wednesday from the island of Lesbos to the Turkish port of Dikili.

“We are expecting violence. People in despair tend to be violent,” the leftist-led government’s migration spokesman, Giorgos Kyritsis, told the Observer. “The whole philosophy of the deal is to deter human trafficking [into Europe] from the Turkish coast, but it is going to be difficult and we are trying to use a soft approach. These are people have fled war. They are not criminals.”

Barely 24 hours ahead of the pact coming into force, it emerged that Frontex, the EU border agency, had not dispatched the appropriate personnel to oversee the operation. Eight Frontex boats will transport men, women and children, who are detained on Greek islands and have been selected for deportation, back across the Aegean following fast-track asylum hearings. But of the 2,300 officials the EU has promised to send Greece only 200 have so far arrived, Kyritsis admitted.

These people have fled war. Nonsense. The men need to return and fight, giving their lives if necessary, to save their country. Well, crap hole, but still, it’s their home.

I wonder how many muzzie rapefugees have invaded the island of Crete.

Greek gun laws are disarmingly strict but are ignored by Cretans who have been armed to the teeth since the Nazi invaded in WWII. Athens chooses not to enforce its gun laws there.

Cretans remember the despotic Ottoman days, too. A boatload of muzzie males landing on Crete won’t get far.

I just googled “Crete Muslim Migrants”. A liberal Athens rag decried “xenophobic attacks” by Cretans against muzzies but that’s about it.

There may be a story of successful resistance on Crete to invading Muslim hordes that is being currently suppressed by the forces of PC.

It’s called “live ammunition”. Use it liberally.

Isn't Crete divided in half? The rapists in one half and Greeks in the other. They probably won't let rapists into the clean half and no refugees will want to go to the filthy half. Maybe that's the solution for Europe, divide each country in half.

You’re confusing Crete with Cyprus.

I don’t know if the Greeks are as much to blame or not for this invasion by allowing so many to pass thru to the heart of Europe (whose paying off who?), but whatever the case, they better make a damn good example of how they control the muzz scum (including, unfortunately, shooting them) because the rest of Europe that has a $hithouse load of the same turds, will need to act accordingly. Steely spine, my Greek fellow Christians. You faced the Nazis with resolve, and the communists, too. These creatures are no different. Your country and civilization hang in the balance. We’re next.

Invite them in with promises of a great life. Don’t give it to them immediately and they riot! Surprise!

Up until 1920 or so you would have been right. In the war between Greece & the emerging Turkish state, ethnic minorities were expelled; 30,000 Greeks from Asia Minor (the ones who had survived) and 30,000 Turks from Crete where their presence had been enforced by the Ottoman Empire. Crete has been ethnic Greek & Christian ever since though there is a small Muslim remnant.

And the Cretans cling to their guns. Given their history, you might say they are the original bitter clingers. And the government in Athens is smart enough not to intervene.

But since you were actually referring to Cyprus, seems there are quite a few `illegal’ gun owners there, too, among the Greek Cypriots. Their tastes are more like the Swiss, with machine guns kept at home in clothes closets. With Turkish Cypriots next door on the same island, that’s not hard to understand.

They’re at the breaking point. It’s one thing to have citizens sucking off the government teat, but massive amounts of refugees? Completely unfair.

Funny thing that I have noticed. Rioters tend to stop rioting when they start bleeding.

It is rapidly becoming time to clear the square.
