My local Home Defect is starting to really get out of hand with this. One day I thought I was in a pet store.
A few times my first stop was the plumbing aisle to grab a 2 foot 3/4” iron pipe nipple for protection. Just in case. Then on to other shopping.
One time a Shepard really started getting out of control but luckily the owner calmed him down.
The day is coming when we have regular attacks in stores.

Sorry, but I regularly take my dog to Home Depot, one of the few places other than the pet store or dog park, I would never take him to a grocery, clothing, furniture type store. In this case I blame owners for taking dogs that aren't socialized, on the other hand you can only socialize a dog by taking out to interact with people. I started mine at five months at antique swapmeets, he was 55# then, now that he's 150# few people ask me to leave anywhere, but my dog is a very gentle giant, an assistance animal and therapy dog.

It’s the national policy of Home Depot to permit pet dogs. They don’t have to be service or therapy animals. Their owners don’t have to show any certifications. If a customer wants to take ol’ Fuzzy to HD with him, it’s perfectly okay, and he’s not perpetrating some kind of fraud. I believe Lowe’s has the same policy. If you don’t like this policy, try shopping at another chain or at a small local hardware store.
