Trump just dropped MAJOR HINT about what he’ll do if NOT the nominee…

The Republican establishment breathed a huge sigh of relief last fall when GOP presidential hopeful Donald Trump signed a loyalty pledge binding him to endorse the GOP nominee, whomever it is, and precluding a third-party run. At the time, a close associate said the candidate felt he’d been “treated fairly” by the party, which had been Trump’s stated criterion for deciding to sign the pledge.

A lot of things have changed since then — including both the relationship between Trump and the party and the candidate’s commitment to the pledge, apparently. As the New York Post reports, the GOP frontrunner is leaving the door open for a third-party bid, should he not walk away from the party convention as the nominee.

Donald Trump is refusing to rule out a third-party bid for The White House.

During a Fox News interview airing Sunday, Trump said he would prefer to run on the Republican line, but left himself the option for an independent bid should the party reject him at the July national convention in Cleveland.

“I want to run as a Republican. I will beat Hillary Clinton,” he told Fox’s Chris Wallace, in an excerpt released Friday.

When pressed on a potential third-party candidacy, Trump added: “I’m gonna have to see how I was treated [before making a decision]. It’s very simple.”

A third-party run by anyone has the potential to dramatically alter the general election outcome — and by someone with as much staunch support behind him as Donald Trump, it’s pretty much unchartered territory.

Rivals Sen. Ted Cruz and Gov. John Kasich both were also noncommittal recently about supporting the Republican nominee, regardless of who it ends up being, when asked by Anderson Cooper during a recent CNN town hall.

After doing a little research it does not appear that the USSC allows sore loser laws to stand in presidential elections.

You can be sure it would make it to the Supreme Court.

So true. Cruz has sold out lock stock and barrel to the GOPe. When he first got in the race did you ever envision him taking on the whole Bush staff including the ex criminal brother Neil? No nobody did.

I support Cruz because he is a constitutional conservative...

Obviously there are a lot of other reasons as well, but let me add one. Cruz is smart enough to not get trapped on "gotcha" questions and then in response the next day say the "abortion laws are okay we shouldn't change them".

It should be clear to FReepers that Trump is a destructive and doomed candidate. He has run a scorched earth campaign, personally insulting other candidates, denigrating their wives and lying about other candidates. He has no depth of understanding on the issues evidenced by how easily he was painted into a stupid position on abortion. If he wins the nomination he will lose in the general election. He won't be able to unite the Pub party and he won't overcome 70/23 unfavorables with women.

If we lose this election and Hillary gets to increase the Supremes to 6 libs, further elections won’t matter.

Romney did that right before the Michigan primary mostly for our state. His niece is that state repub chair and his dad was governor.

I don’t know about constitutional, but there is a certain logic to it: you’re probably not running to win but just to spoil someone else’s chance.

I agree.

Just getting really tired of being told who I have to vote for or support.

The you have to vote for the R because the D is so bad is really starting to wear thing.

Often times the R is just as bad.

Punish the GOPe: Write in Trump and vote dems for the senate

Oh, Okay I get it, that's just like punishing your family by committing suicide, except in this case you would be around to suffer with them. No thank you.

Trump and the other candidates were going at each other to try and win but nothing different than any election cycle.

Oh please, be honest.

Trump's big draw right from the get go was he is so different and will say anything. I thought it was refreshing early on. But as I started listening to his response to things like Planned Parenthood I knew I wouldn't vote for him in the primary, or the general. As he went out of his way to demean and insult other candidates I knew I was right to decide I could never support him. Trump created this mess and unfortunately he's guaranteeing a Rat victory in Nov.

Maybe the one good thing that will come out of this mess is the Pub party will probably wake up and close the primaries. Pubs should pick their candidate.

We have the soap box, the ballot box and the ammo box.

The UniParty(c) keeps pushing, they'll discover which on We The People will need to resort to.

All of the fat cats in the 'RAT and RINO wings of the UniParty had better head for their gated communities and private security guards if they try to steal THIS election.

Nice talking points for Cruz. He handles gotcha questions by having failed candidate and HP wrecker Carly jump in, emasculate him and answer a question he should have been man enough to handle. He’s a puppet.

FReepers aremwise and they know who the good and bad actors are. Hence the overwhelms support for Trump here, including manymwho initially liked Cruz. Things are clearer now.

Sore loser laws in Federal elections are Unconstitutional per US Constitution which has supremacy on who can run in elections for federal offices.
